How can the one completely obvious fault in last years team be the one you don’t address? We have recruited well by the looks of things. Stanger, Amartey and Murphy all very good. But the full back situation will render that all useless if not rectified.

Could watch Murphy hit free kicks all day. Stanger can get the starting job for me.

As a fan growing up in the late 2000s/2010s, my positive Ayr memories are very light. Chris Smiths header in Paisley, the last minute winner at Brechin, the final day in 2018 and Readings winner at the Girodome are all honourable mentions. But I don’t think anything comes close to the period of time when we were turning up on a Saturday and dishing out ruthless pumpings without breaking a sweat in the Shankland/McCall days. We’d scud someone 5-0 for fun then just go home like nothing happened and it was normal. Halcyon days.

No I just don’t think we’ve been very good at it. You’re so intent on making excuses for people that don’t know you exist. Boys on £800 are not forfeiting 2 month wage for the sake of it.

Why should we just accept having to wait around til we’re 6 or 7 games into our season before we have a full squad? Players at this level aren’t sitting around waiting til the end of August before they sign for someone. If they’re a free agent they aren’t getting a wage. Most would jump at the chance to sign in June. Stop making excuses.

Should be a popular opinion. Murphy really helps him out with the fact he isn’t a direct winger and lets Paddy overlap a lot more.

Plenty energy about it which you would expect. Stanger fits the Michael Rose type perfectly. Musonda might find it hard to get back in at this rate. Amartey is your typical pacey energetic winger except this time there might actually be an end product unlike O’Connor or JML. Stenny should’ve scored at the start and end of the half but apart from that they haven’t been over the halfway line. The offside call was right and I’d like more referees to recognise when they’ve made a mistake and hold their hands up.

I don’t think anything has ever bewildered me more in my time supporting Ayr than the support Reading has from the manager. Utterly horrendous footballer.

Not defending Bullen here at all, but if we gave every young player we had a run in the team to decide if they were good or not then we’d never win a game. He isnt any worse than Reading so should be playing at least one or two of these games imo, but I don’t think he’s Championship level. I’ve seen enough defensively from him to come to that conclusion.

Chances are whatever striker they do wheel out, no one will ever have heard of him so I reckon it’s pointless trying to guess. I think we’ve exhausted all the options as far as up here is concerned.

You’re definitely on the happy clapper end of the spectrum but there is far, far worse. If this forum didn’t have different opinions it would be a bit shite. One look on the SRE makes you seem like a doom merchant.

No idea. You just said one look at their squads shows that they are better than ours. The club have said there is not much difference in budget. That can only mean we are not very good at it.
