I seem to remember the young team were giving him pelters that day and the guy sat beside me was an absolute moron just shouting shite anytime he touched the ball. Also, I'm not claiming he was having his best game that day, but as I told the guy beside me, I would always rather my midfielder always shows for the ball regardless and tries to dictate the play. I think some of our other midfielders are bad for hiding and not showing/asking for the ball (Todd and McGrory). For me, Cochrane has had the odd good game but he has just never played consistently enough in the team due to his fitness issues, now he is playing consistently without an injury we are seeing the player he is. It will be interesting to see when (or if) Wilson is fit and in the starting 11 how that impacts Cochrane's performance, as others have pointed out he seems less effective when he doesn't play as deep (the role Wilson plays when fit).

Funny how quickly people’s opinions turn. The amount of abuse Cochrane was getting at Airdrie away was shocking yet only a few months later fans are desperate to keep him for next year.

Paton will be away regardless and I can’t see Connelly being a MB type player to be honest. Is Todd not under contract for next year anyway? And yes, giving McKechnie a new deal would be wise as he seems to be improving game by game after previously not getting a look in and his injury problems.

Out of all the players out of contract this summer, only East and Cochrane are deserving of new deals in my opinion.

His birthday is in August, does that mean he could just hold off signing for a club until then if he finds clubs don’t want to pay a fee for him? Or is a fee we would be due that small for that clubs will likely pay it?

I can completely believe this. He kept himself isolated in his warm up at half time in the Hamilton game and didn’t really seem to be speaking to any of the other subs.

You kidding? Cochrane when fit has been good. The problem with him is he is always injured and has never had a consistent run of say 6/7 starts in a row. I’d also say he isn’t fit enough as well and that’s why he barely seems to play 90 minutes.

Glad I never travelled through after the result yesterday. Surprised by the lack of effort that others have commented on though. I thought against Hamilton despite us losing the game, we gave absolutely everything. We just need a complete reset and completely change the squad this summer. Commented on this before, but if Connelly wasn’t injured than the reason he isn’t in the squad must be his attitude. Remember watching him and Rico doing a warm up at half time against Clyde away earlier in season and both their attitudes was coming across as absolutely stinking.

Going from the few times I’ve seen both play this season I’m surprised Airdrie aren’t slightly closer to the top two. The first half they played at Palmerston is by far the best team I’ve come to Palmerston this season, meanwhile I’ve seen Alloa a few times and don’t don’t think they are a good team at all. In terms of the actual squad and the way they play football, Airdrie are a far better team for me. I don’t think it’s controversial at all to have the take that Airdrie will/could gain more points in the run in than Alloa. I would feel quietly confident we could perhaps make up the 7 points on Alloa, but as because of the reasons said above, I think it could be a struggle to catch Airdrie. Therefore, making that fourth spot the one up for grabs.

I have to say, I am really excited about having MB in charge of us at the minute. I personally wanted a more experienced head in charge (McCall if he got binned, or McCann), but I am really happy with how we have ended up. I know things are ridiculously early, but to me you can already see a huge difference in terms of our fitness. MB being ruthless and getting (or trying) to get rid of the absolute jobbers in our team is a positive sign, and the way he communicates, as well as his recruitment (Dabrowski and Brydon especially) look as though they will make a big difference. Think the season is too far gone for play offs unfortunately. For me, it is between us, Alloa and Edinburgh City for that fourth spot (with Dunfermline, Falkirk and Airdrie nailed down as top three). I can see Alloa scraping into that last spot personally. But, I would feel optimistic next year in this division (especially if Falkirk go up, and say a Hamilton/Arbroath come down). Remember Martindale saying when MB took the job he was surprised he never got a Championship gig, here's hoping a summer where he can get his own players in will see us up challenging for the league and (hopefully) get back into the Championship.

He’s lost all his pace from his first spell with us. He was a brilliant striker for Championship level during that time, but as he’s got older I think he’s just got a loss less effective.
