His under 18 team he’s managing are meant to play really good football and have been in 3 cup finals this year. Granted, don’t know the squad he has in comparison to the league, but think it’s a bit harsh to be unconvinced if he could make a manager yet. He’s doing all the right things to be ready when that time comes.

Is it just me that’s a bit disappointed the tanner fund is being used to get three youngsters to train with us full time? In my opinion that’s something that the club should be paying for anyway in order to promote local players. I thought the purpose of the fund was to help us add to something which wouldn’t be possible under normal circumstances (meaning offering better wages for first team players). Don’t know if I’m being overly critical but I’ve always thought this since this idea was originally suggested.

I think we did give Josh Rae a good deal, he’s just obviously going to get better elsewhere after the season he’s had. I’m very critical of the BoD but completely disagree here. If Connelly for example gets an offer from a Play off chasing team in the Championship he’s not going to stay here even if it is the same wages. And think the money we have “sitting in the bank” is drastically overstated. We need a new pitch which is going to cut a huge chunk of that and are expecting a heavy loss, we can’t afford to be offering stupid wages to try and compete unfortunately.

Any predictions on whether those offered new deals will resign?

When do you think the cut off date is to hear back whether last seasons players have accepted a new deal? Surely end of this week/ start of next.

Yes probably right.

Notice he said as well to win the league, and the statement mentioned that. Time for the board to back him accordingly then!

The difference in the style of play suggests to me that he can coach the players he has well. I know results didn’t improve significantly but to me the performances and work effort did from the team. That just leaves whether he’s capable of recruiting his own players and building his own squad. Time will tell

Grant Murray has experience managing in League One. Wullie kept talking about experienced players who would “make a difference” in the interview, wonder who they are.

Is there talk he could get a new deal at Ayr?

I think he'll be at a Premiership Club in the next year or two. You forget how young he is as well, he's still only 21. Think that could be realistic signing for you since he's already played up your end of the country with Peterhead previously.

Think it is extremely unlikely we keep Rae again, one of the better keepers in the Championship in my opinion. There was a rumour on here I seen that Carlisle were looking at him as well.
