  1. Some will still cross state lines for abortions, sadly, but pro-life laws still reduce abortions in the long run. The tide is turning.
  2. I don’t throw insults, Antlion. If you think I have then please point out the posts in question.
  3. Using the term 'reproductive rights' is disingenuous considering reproduction has already taken place before the abortion goes ahead. If Roe v Wade is overturned then it'll not just be a joyous day, but a day of liberation for the hundreds of thousands of innocent and vulnerable human lives ended in the US every year. Things are undoubtedly going in the right direction over there.
  4. Morning all, Just for the record, I'm not the same person as Albus. Don't really care if people think we are though. Contrary to popular belief, I don't actually support the SFP either, although I am absolutely on the same page as them with regards to social issues. If I really had to declare support for a party, then it would be the Tories.
  5. Enjoying Ad Lib's well thought out posts. Makes a pleasant change from the usual tit for tat.
  6. There hasn’t been anything to make me change my mind mate. I’m not ashamed to admit that my reasons are primarily about identity, culture, history, tradition and a way of life. I’m involved in organisations that have Britishness at their very core. These sort of factors matter much more to me than taxation, currency, the economy or the EU’s ERASMUS scheme etc. Whilst for a lot of Scots Pipe Bands, Bannockburn, the Declaration of Arbroath and songs of the Jacobites will stir the emotions; I value different bands, different historical events, different battles and different songs. This doesn’t mean I don’t care about Scotland though, as my family lineage goes back to various parts of this beautiful nation that I adore and care about deeply. I don’t think I could ever leave Scotland. It also goes to England too though, and Wales. Then having married a Northern Irish woman completed the Staunch jigsaw! Most of my mates are Nationalists and I would trust them with anything. I respect their point of view too, but we just look at it from completely different angles. As much as I’d be gutted if Independence ever happened, I’d still be happy for friends of mine who have wanted it their whole lives. I went off on one there mate but I hope you see where I’m coming from! I agree about the SNP fanboys btw. They won’t go against their cult leader.
  7. I’ll take your word for it regarding Peter A Bell and Barrhead Boy, so fair play to you there. I agree that ScotGov hasn’t done any sort of campaigning at all. You’d expect policies to be ironed out too, but they haven’t been.
  8. No offence mate, but you come across as rather seething yourself? People having different points of view is normal in life. Accept it and take a chill pill.
  9. Of course it does, and it is indeed obvious. Thank me for something that never took place all you want if it makes you feel better.
  10. I've addressed everything you've asked of me and you've failed to answer my responses. Claiming you're bored of stuff not being addressed, when I've specifically questioned what you mean, is not a good look. Spending time on you is obviously futile, and I'm actually embarrassed I haven't realised this 'til now, so this is my last post to you.
  11. If that were the case then there wouldn't be much point at all. I'm not though, so if you could explain what you're on about then that would be magic. What have I said that's revisionist and/or wrong? And why? Still waiting on an answer regarding the double standard too.
  12. Yeah, you can roughly tell what's going on by them. Although they were generous to you in 2014, they were only a few percent off the mark for the final result, which is why I'd like them to show at least more than 60% support for a long period. I think it'd be foolish to equate support for a party with support for their constitutional stance. Plenty people will vote for them for other reasons. You also have consistently far lower turnouts for general elections, so to say it'd be more representative than opinion polls is disingenuous at best. Whether you care what the Tories say or not is irrelevant. The fact is they are in power with a majority with a mandate to say 'NO TO INDYREF 2'. They don't have to take Holyrood in order to do anything.
  13. If you want me to take your claim seriously, then you'll have to explain the where and how historical revisionism has taken place. I was saying opinion polling would be a decent way of telling the public mood, although they were still generous to the Nats in 2014. This is true. The ten opinion polls all conducted within about a week in the run up to the 2014 referendum on partition all showed gaps between No and Yes of between 1% and 7% The final result had a gap of 10.6% which we can round up to 11% You then mentioned something about independence being at a third at the start of the campaign, which is irrelevant to my point. The wife has just read it out loud to me and we both have no idea what you're on about, so if you could enlighten us both then it'd be much appreciated. Again, how have I shown a double standard here?
  14. How's it historical revisionism? And how have I shown a double standard?
  15. No, I'm not suggesting they decide government policy. They are a decent indicator of how the electorate feel about something though, although it must be said that in 2014 they overstated the support for a break away. If opinion polling was to consistently sit at 62%ish in support of separation, for around 2 years or so, then I'd accept that a clear majority really want it and that another referendum should take place. Until then, the Tories should simply flex their muscles like real men and tell them 'NO TO INDYREF 2'
  16. That's certainly not how I see it, Welshy. I think if there was evidence of a clear and large majority of the Scottish electorate wanting a break away for a long period of time then it'd be OK to have another one, once a generation is up of course. If opinion polls have consistently shown support for separation being 60% of above for 2 years or so, then yes, it'd be clear that it wasn't just flash in the pan. For such an important, constitutional change, we should really know it's wanted by the people and not just a phase. Just having successive opportunistic referenda in the hope one gets the Nats over the line is just plain immoral.
  17. From what I gather, and I'm happy to be proven wrong, they recognise that any attempted bypass of the section 30 will still eventually require a court case. I don't see how the Nats could win it considering the Scottish Parliament is an arm of Westminster and created by Westminster. They wouldn't have allowed it to come into fruition with the ability to break away part of it's territory. Are BB and PAB not basically saying a referendum should be held with or without consent then see if it gets challenged and take it from there? This isn't the same as saying a section 30 isn't required IMO.
  18. I don’t see how matters to do with the Electoral Commission would affect the ‘SNP mandate’, especially when it doesn’t even exist. The notion that refusing a 2nd referendum on an already settled issue is somehow undemocratic is ridiculous. The people of Scotland do not want Independence - time to drop this pish.
  19. Why is Sturgeon so frightened to hold one? According to Lichty and Zern they can just declare one no problem. I’m surprised we’ve not had a few!
  20. Not at all. My inability to cite legislation doesn't change my opinion. I don't go through documents with a fine toothed comb. You haven't provided anything that contradicts what I'm saying though. The Referendums Act not mentioning a section 30 doesn't mean they don't need to ask for one. Sturgeon kens it Racist Humza kens it You ken it I ken it Barrhead Boy kens it Peter A Bell kens it Patsy Kensit I do watch/listen to Nat podcasts though, and they DO think they need the approval of Boris, unless they fight in the courts and win. No doubt you'll ask me for proof of this too, but I'm not about to trawl through them. Again, why did Sturgeon not just have one when you were riding sky high in the polls? If the Referendums (Scotland) Act was so powerful then you could be sitting pretty with an Independent Scotland by now.
  21. I'm with you and Welshbairn on this. Plenty hardworking people who've been on the housing list for years would love such a property. We are meant to provide them a safe haven, not the Ritz.
