  1. I'm sorry if this was discussed before but what was the point of having a name sponsor for a ground we won't be using this season? Is it a long term/permanent deal, I wonder?
  2. Turner was the worst in our midfield of Jacks today. Very disappointing. He needs to get his head in the game ASAP. He failed to link up with Spong and Paton and was the weakest link in our passing play. I was surprised when Jarrett came on for Thompson rather than Turner. We need to sign a striker... like tomorrow morning. We just can't rely on Paton the whole season.
  3. If that is the case, I think it's better to loan an out-of-favour experienced player from the premiership, rather than developing other clubs' young players for no future benefit to the club.
  4. Completely agree but signing 19 year old players on loan doesn't really fit "the plan".
  5. That's good news but I don't understand how/why we couldn't find a permanent solution to that position since we'll... the departure of Doyle.
  6. He was already under contract until June 2024. This is a wage raise + one year extension.
  7. What are the odds that we field Fox who indeed turns out to be ineligible due to his red card from the league cup game and lose 3-0 by default yet again?
  8. I haven't spent a single second reading let alone post something on another team's thread here and I find it fascinating how some people are more "interested" in the future of QP than, you know, QP fans.
  9. I meant financially and more importantly administration-wise. I don't care if we get relegated as long as we are financially afloat and independent enough to stick to "the plan". That's make or break for me, and I suspect it's the same for MB and RV.
  10. We actually discussed this briefly here. To answer your question: it doesn't. That seems to be the reason why, except Hepburn, all the other new pre-season signings agreed to 3 year contracts, which shows an intention to develop and sell them on. I don't like the idea of having too many loanees in the squad.
  11. I really liked Oakley. I wish we had him for another season.
  12. I think this season is going to be make or break for the club. If we do not start creating some revenue from player sales, it can get pretty dark pretty soon. I wouldn't be surprised if MB and RV decide to abandon a sinking ship.
  13. Looking at today's team, I guess we didn't sign that young right back after all. My gut feeling is that we're looking for a last-minute opportunity loanee.
  14. I won't be buying the new kit. I knew this would happen. Global kit suppliers (Adidas, Nike etc.) have a small catalogue of kit designs that they force-feed to all the clubs, unless the club is big enough to dictate its own design. I may be interested in the new training gear but definitely not these shirts.
  15. They just gave you the standard legal response. Just buy the tickets. Last season, I had two half-season tickets both in my name and as there couldn't be two of me I brought a friend with me to every game.
  16. Btw, when I was renewing my season ticket last Friday, Mhairi let me look at the computer screen to choose a seat. There were only around 100 seats left, If I saw correctly. If anyone's interested in buying a new one, once the general sale opens tomorrow, they should hurry.
  17. Only 12 days until the first official game in the viaplay cup. New kit & shirt sponsor reveal this week?
  18. Midfield after the signing of Jack Turner today. All we need is a King up front.
  19. So you don't think it was MB who hired OC last season? As the director of football I would like to think it was him. So why hire someone who doesn't share his vision as you say, in the first place?
  20. I had a Clyde burger for £7 from the chippy next to Greggs. Wasn't impressed either. Will try the corner deli next time.
  21. Popped outside for a scran and checked the pies at Greggs just before the awards ceremony yesterday. They looked disgusting.
  22. I'd like to pick your brains for something that's been on my mind since the last season. I thought the main driving force behind the decision to become a professional club and start offering our players professional contracts and wages was to stop bigger clubs from poaching the young talent we develop through the ranks for nothing. The secondary aim being using the money we receive from player sales in restructuring the club and building strong ties with the community. If I'm not mistaken in all of the above, the fact that we haven't sold a single young player in the last three years is a little worrying. Mind you, I'm quite happy to see the team competing in the Championship and keep signing quality players but how does that fit into "the plan"? For example, the signing of Hepburn as a loanee from Bayern is definitely good for the first team's prospects this season but he's not a player we can "sell on". If I don't see the club making money off at least two player sales at the end of 23/24 season, then I'm seriously doubting "the plan".
  23. It's not nearly enough. The mid section (comfy black seats) is normally reserved for press & scouts so those seats won't be sold. That leaves only around 600 seats for home and away fans. I was talking to a few fellow fans and everyone seems to agree that we need to find a way to make a more permanent deal with the SFA for Hampden. The Lesser is an excellent base & training ground with state of the art facilities and an amazing pitch but it is not a stadium and I don't believe it will ever be.
