  1. Was Marray not 5-1 down in the second round and he won the set 7-5 though?

Interesting slip of the keyboard because as it 'appens there is actually a British player called Jonny Marray. Think he's ranked about 5,000 and would be unlikely to come from 5-1 down in a set against the coprse of Fred Perry.

  2. Good effort by Murray on the red dirt but now it's on to the grass for a few weeeks. This is of course the only part of the season that matters to most casual tennis observers and anything other than a Murray win at Wimbers will make his season a complete flop. To them our only salvation could be Laura Robson winning the kids tourney again

  3. To be pedantic I never said anything as definitive as "I'd make him favourite". I said I'd "almost" do so. And I stand by it. Federer's vulnerability at present was perfectly highlighted by Haas being six points from victory at the business end of the third set today and Haas is a pretty average player these days. He's certainly not as good as Del Potro. If Federer plays like that against Del Potro he will lose.

Hmmm. Not convinced by your analysis. However, who am I to argue with the 2007 1st Division Poster of the Year (Joint) :o

  4. Nadal owned Soderling's skinny ass a few weeks ago in Rome too. Did you have a point?

Oh...didn't see the post where you made Soderling favourite to beat Nadal. What's your point ?

My point is that you are making DP fave over Federer despite the fact that he's never beaten him and never looked likely to. Soderling has previously taken Nadal to 5 sets in a grand slam so there was at least previous.

Disappointed in you SD...I thought you knew something about this game

  5. Playing the Windies in May is a stupid thing to do. The West Indies batsman are utterly useless in early season, damp, swinging conditions and were always likely cop a real tanking. The only time West Indies should play in England is in late July/August after a long hot summer when the pitch will be less bowler friendly. England have always been good in home conditions (ie loads of seam movement) and stuffing the clueless Windies proves nothing.

  6. Saw the last few legs of the match and Anderson was flinging some brilliant darts. Looks some player and a definite threat to the top boys if he can adjust to the TV cameras and big crowds. First time I've seen him play for a while and he has a really smooth action and the arrows just fly into the 60. 107 average is pretty decent too and the good thing is he looked genuinely disappointed not to average more.

  7. It should all even itself out next week, where Murray will rise to Number 3, as neither player are competing in this weeks ATP events.

Nole is taking part in a 250 event in Belgrade which he organises. However, even if he wins it the points he loses from another 250 (Sydney) means he'll still be behind Murray.

  8. I'm assuming that King and Wade's matches were with Mardle.

I think I've worked it out. When Mardle was missing for 2 weeks 2 matches were brought forward to replace his matches. This means that if he'd been fit Mardle would have been involved in 2 matches during the final 2 weeks...his scheduled match and the one put back from an earlier week. Therefore there are now 2 slots to fill. There is only one challenge match required in Aberdeen because we know now Mardle is out to so there is no need to postpone his match and bring one forward as we just need to fill in for his scheduled game.

  9. Sheffield

Barney vs. Lewis ( Challenge Match )

Taylor vs. Priestley ( Challenge Match )

    Jenkins vs. Part

    Wade vs. Klaasen

    Cardiff

Klaasen vs. Webster ( Challenge Match )

Part vs. Anderson ( Challenge Match )

    Barney vs. Jenkins

    King vs. Taylor

Why 2 challenge matches on each night ? Where is The King and The Machine ? Is it something to do with already having played Mardle twice ??

  10. If my maths is right it looks as if Nole needs to retain his Rome Masters or Murray will be No 3 by simply turning up in Rome. Even then if Murray get's to the Semi's it doesn't matter what Nole does. However, as others have said I reckon Nadal, Djokovic and Murray will be the top three for several years as FedERROR is on the slide and the likes of Del Potty and Verdasco aren't in the same class.

  11. Of course Murray hasn't got any previous for inventing injuries to prevent himself from playing in the Davis Cup. Except for last year when he pulled exactly the same stunt to avoid going to Argentina, only to be outed as a liar by his own brother.

Why does it bother you so much ? Does he owe you money ? Even with Murray we'd struggle to beat San Marino in the Dave Cup. As far as I am concerned Murray shouldn't even bother with this crap until we have a another player who is even remotely capable of winning a meaningful second singles.

  12. Looks as if we have another Bogdanovich in the form of Mr Joshua Godawful. This prat was our number one and he couldn't take a single set off of players ranked about 200 and 400 respecitvely. Fair play to Eaton he at least showed some testes in taking a set off Steve Steakhouse and beating the bloke who panned Godawful.

I suggest Scotland should enter a separate team coached by Mrs Murray and the team would be her two boys, Colin Fleming and that 11 year old kid from Stirling. Couldn't do any worse than the perma losers currently getting a game for GB.

  13. Mardle is finishing like a b*****d like he does now and again. It's one of those nights where he won't miss.

Aye, his average is miles behind Barney but his finishes are superb.

  14. Mervyn King certainly did a better job than Taylor post-match. He seemed genuine enough with the stuff he was saying, even if you knew he was talking pish.

Nope. King was talking out of his arse and everybody watching knew it. Taylor was being honest and King was just being a twat.
