Airdrieonians vs Dunfermline
Diamonds02 replied to Diamond1924's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
We've played them 12 times since they got relegated and they've only beat us once (mostly hutton in goals for those games as well). We also beat them 4-0 at home earlier this season so i would be very disappointed if we only got a point. -

Always been good for us in league 1 and it's his first league appearance this season tbf. Anyway as we now only have 1 fit keeper i believe we are eligible for an emergency loan so we'll probably get Murray johnson back in for next week's game. -
Absolute rubbish. I assume you weren't at any games at the start of the season because he was one of our best players. Also you say he hardly featured but he has played 21 times in the league and started almost every game until the more experienced telfer came in. Not to mention the fact that he's still only 19. He wasn't good on Saturday but to completely write him off based on that is just bizarre.

Because our defensive strategy is to keep attacking. -

Don't like to criticise him because he has been great for us. But Callum Smith has completely cost us that game with possibly the most bizzare piece of stupidity i have ever seen on a football park. -
Shows how we all perceive things differently as i find your comment weirdly pessimistic. The way you're going on it's like we're relegation candidates. We're 1 point off the play off places in a much tougher league than last year. I don't think slight optimism makes you a mindless 'happy clapper'. I find it much more reasonable than the position you've taken.

Everyone wants an experienced centre half to come in (including me) but is there any actually available at this level in January? Morgyn neill is now staying at cove so I'm not sure who else we could actually get. Still though i urge everyone to keep the heid for now, if there's still no defensive signing in 3 weeks then I'll start to worry.

You say "signing Gow's academy teens" like it's another club or something. They are our own academy players who we are promoting which generally can only be a good thing. Hindsight is great but on the face of it bringing someone on for their debut when we are cruising at 2-0 up isn't the craziest decision ever like some have made it out to be. McCabe is a young manager who will make mistakes just like young players do and i agree that not taking riley off after his 1st yellow was one of them. Call me deluded but if we made a decent signing in defence and rae back in the team i would still be optimistic for the rest of the season.

I would agree that there is more than enough experience in the squad. People also forget what league we're in sometimes. Since when has there been experienced players available at this level in January? Just a few decent loans for depth and i will be very optimistic for the second half of the season.

Airdrieonians v Dunfermline Athletic

Not that i think that we'll be consistent enough to catch you this season but having been in this league for a decade, 10 points really isn't massive at this stage. -
Anonymous most games but thought he was one of our best players at the weekend. If he continues with those kind of performances then I'll be happy.

Yeah you're second paragraph was essentially what i was trying to say. It was stupid and immature but obviously the punishment doesn't fit the crime. That it is the unfortunate set of circumstances that led to the extreme punishment as opposed to the action itself. Which is why i have sympathy for him (although personally i don't like the way he has handled it since then).

Thought I'd weigh in on the gary Cunningham situation as i may have some insight to the legal side of things and why i think the decision was actually made. A large part of the quitongo case is on how the club react to complaints and he is arguing that not enough was done when he complained at the time. Someone made a complaint about Gary c. As a result quitongo's lawyers immediately know about it as how Airdrie react to any future complaints would be massive in the case. So i think the club have just taken the strongest possible action to avoid giving quitongo's lawyer's anything to use against them. I feel sorry for gary as it's not his fault he's just in a very unfortunate situation but from a legal standpoint i can't entirely blame the club for taking the action they have as losing this case would be catastrophic for the club and it's future. As it is now evidence in the case and the case will be protected with non disclosure agreements that is why there can be no comment from the club about any of it. Just a horrible situation for everyone, there are no winners here.
