I would have expected closer to double that for a Thistle game. There has certainly been 400+ at previous games. I heard a stat that this was our seventh meeting in 2023? Perhaps the sense of occasion of a Glasgow derby has worn off? I missed the game (sorting storm damage) and the blokes I go with didn't go either, which is unusual. They normally go to more away games than me. I know they are frustrated with our style of play and suspect that may be a factor, along with our poor form.

Things are not going well. That much is obvious. But a wee reminder: 1)We are four points of the playoff spots. 2)Airdrie (fourth) have lost as many games as us. 3) Ayr have lost more games than us so we are not alone with inconsistent performances. But it is fairly apparent that our squad can't live with the top 3 at the moment, particularly when the opponents are at full strength. But we can mix it and mix it well with everyone else. Still think we can get ourselves up the table but we are going to have to get used to it being more of a struggle than we would like.

Steeled myself this morning to watch the highlights and still scratching my head as to how that game was thrown away. On the positive side our youngsters went toe to toe with an experienced side for 80mins and made a game of it. Frustratingly goal shy at times where we don't pull the trigger in the box and defensively soft. Good bit of skill from Vaughn for the first goal so no complaints there but the second is a howler. Healy out of position and gives up the chase leaving Rovers a free cross. Charlie and Tommy both left Hamilton with acres of space. Is touch tight marking a thing of the past? The pen looked soft but was well taken. That's six points we have thrown away against Raith. As for Queens we can't keep throwing on youngsters who haven't played for months into high pressure situations against veteran teams and expect them to cope let alone thrive. As tired as they were we should have kept Thomas and McPherson on for longer.

We were battering Raith and should have kept the same players on and kept our foot on their throat. Instead we take off key players, change shape, and in the last five mins end up looking like pub team that has met for the first time that day.

Free parking usually at Hampden but the Whisky EXPO is on this weekend so it will be busy. There is an Asda in Toryglen with a big car park that is a 10min walk away.

Well, we had to pay off our stadium contractor (expensive), spent €2m on an amazing pitch but then halved the Lesser capacity to build a Royal box and copy Tottenham's changing rooms. So it seems we have no cash to further develop the stadium and had to end up with an arrangement with the SFA that lets them use Lesser and us rent "big Hampden". Masterful. At least we are back in the Southside but the future is very unclear.

Looking forward to this game. We have had some good contests with Raith over the last year or so. They are a good footballing side, easy on the eye, and have added a goal threat that was lacking last year. They are certainly worth their position in the league. Key thing for us is how we handle their aggressive press. We struggled with that and lost posession in dangerous areas at Stark's Park. We certainly have goals in us again but still prone to costly gaffes that lead to goals. A tidy game at the back and I am optimistic we will come away with a point or more.

Fitba eh, why do we follow it? There's got to be less tortuous forms of entertainment surely?

The radio silence from our club about the future suggests the answer is not in doubt.

We dominated for spells in the first half without really creating many clear chances then did our usual (1) give ball away in the middle of the park and (2) get ourselves into trouble at the back, give away a silly foul which leads to a goal when blootering the ball into Sommerset Rd would have sufficed. That said, bags of skill and spirit on display.The team overran Ayr for much of the second half. Wave after wave of attack. Dom rampant. Robin's subs added a threat as well so fair play to him. If we can find a way to stop having a costly gaffe in us we will win games.
