  1. Not a great set of results today with Morton and Inverness both winning. Sharpens the mind a bit about turning draws into wins. Good thing is the league is still tight. The bad thing is the league is still tight! Here's hoping there are more favourable results on Tuesday and that we pick up points at Somerset Park.
  2. Try £12.50 for two bovrils and a poke of chips! They should have served me wearing a mask and holding a gun! Never thought I'd miss the wee pie shop at Ochilview but the Hampden prices are shocking.
  3. Aye. Let's hope he grows in confidence as he looked a bit of a rabbit in the headlights as wasn't really giving Longridge any movement or options ahead of him. Heavy touch in the box when he was wide open cost us a chance to score too. Let's hope he gets control of his nerves and we get to see the best of him.
  4. Yup but you haven't seen what went before it! Trust me that was an improvement. Still a long way to go before teams fear playing us but signs of encouragement are there. Conversely that was the poorest showing I've seen from the Jags in some time. They simply didn't turn up, unlike your support, for which .
  5. Well that was a bit unexpected. A very understrength Thistle who played poorly. No press and our guys got some room to play. We created plenty of chances but our finishing was really poor and cost us three points. Think Dom should take a rest from set pieces for a bit. Defensively we still have a calamity in us but overall a better performance from the guys.
  6. I don't see us keeping a clean sheet so we are going to have to go for it and shoot on sight. Who knows...we might even score!
  7. Over the last few days there have been some very interesting and thoughtful exchanges in the forum on the struggles the club is enduring. Looking across the posts I think most folk agree on the facts i.e. we have talented but inexperienced team that is underperforming and struggling to adapt to a new system, along with coach still finding his feet and DoF insistent on youth recruitment when perhaps a few more older heads would not be a bad thing. The disagreement I see seems to be more around perspective: for some their cup is half empty. For others recent results suggest it might be half full. I am in the latter camp. That might be wishful thinking on my part but I think the season is going to feel a lot longer for those who think their cup is half empty.
  8. The team I saw last night displayed passion, aggression, pace and attacking intent. That suggests to me there is plenty of buy-in. A sub-par performance from Thomas perhaps but he was up against a defender that had the measure of him. That happens sometimes. I agree we have been a boring watch in recent weeks. That is not in doubt. I was even mulling over making Airdrie my last away day for a while but I saw welcome improvements in the team performance that if built on, will see me at Somerset Park.
  9. Watched a bit of the BBC coverage this morning. There was a lot more sympathy for Tizzard on the TV commentary last night than was in the stands with the fans. The poor lad had a bit of a stinker. Harsh taking him off yes but he had given the ball away three times in dangerous positions and eventually cost us a goal. How many more chances should he have been given? There would be no way back from being two down.
  10. That was the most encouraging performance since August. Good attacking intent, moving the ball quickly and a good press and a bit of dig about us that saw us dominate the midfield at times. The downsides were giving away some silly and unnecessary fouls that put us under pressure. Harsh for Tizzard to get pulled early but he was honking. A good performance from everybody else. Best I've seen McPherson play. For me I saw improvement tonight and that gives me hope for the season.
  11. No cash and no assets is not a good place for a football team. Could be a make or break season for the Bairns. And if L1 is a diddy league then what does that make Falkirk given you can't get out of it?
  12. A Falkirk friend who is well up in one of fan groups that is putting money in the club pretty much admitted they will be part-time next season if they don't get promoted this time round.
  13. And let's not forget our Academy which was awarded Elite status. One of only two in the Championship. Club Academy Scotland | Performance| Scottish FA
  14. On a more positive note: Calum Ferrie, what a keeper. Best shot stopper in the league.
  15. I asked my 16 year old son if he wanted to come and watch the game today. He said he would prefer to help his mum weed the garden. I should have joined him! And that my friends, tells all you need to know about our style of football this season - talented players constrained by a labourious and increasingly tedious approach to retaining possession over dynamic attack. Last season we were free wheeling and free scoring. I was buzzing to get to a game. These days I am going early to get my bovril safe in the knowledge I am not going to miss anything. Sad times. I'll keep supporting the team but this is getting increasingly hard to watch.
  16. It is good to be back in the Southside but I agree the Big Hampden experience is a bit souless. Imagine if we kept to the original Lesser Hampden capacity of 1700. The place would have been bouncing. Still too small but it would have created a much more positive vibe for fans.
  17. Sending thoughts and prayers to Chic. He's clearly not well.
  18. No but being surrounded by youngsters, mostly 12 and under by the looks of things, is for us. We need to grow the fan base and being mindful of our language around youngsters can be tricky in the heat of the moment. So I wouldn't have a problem with the front sections of P1 being for families. They will still hear it but it won't be right next to them.
  19. A point shared and I think Morton will be going home the happier of the two sides. On the plus side for Queens we showed greater attacking intent, dominated spells in the game and for the first time in a month looked fairly tidy at the back. On less positive side we are still slow and laboured moving the ball around the box and didn't create too many chances. Our set pieces are pretty hopeless as we never seem to get a head on a ball. Whilst Morton didn't offer much threat up front I thought they defended well enough. We give Imrie a lot of stick at times but at the end of the game when one of his players went down in the box (feigning injury perhaps?) Imrie wasn't having it and was waving at him to get up: fair play.
  20. Plenty of parking at the stadium but avoid aitkenhead rd. Flooded.
  21. Most exciting player in league 2 when he was with us. Always had a sense of anticipation when he got the ball out wide. The end product was a bit of a mixed bag but you were always guaranteed a spectular finish at some point in the season. Sad things didn't work out for him at QP.
  22. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/stuart-mckinstry-sign-queens-park-31078050 An ex EPL striker about to sign. Any good though?
