I too was confused by that! I hear it on all forums that we should sign this player and that player in this position and that! To sign a player at this level, you need to find someone out of contract, attract him through financial incentive or the incentive of playing in a winning team going places. If you have not got that, lower level and loans are your only option no matter what you wish. I’m sure your club like every other has a wish list mine included but it’s not fantasy football and not easy.

Robbery on our behalf I would say. On a positive note, we worked hard, kept a clean sheet and some fringe players got a game. Our lack of goals and creativity is a worry though. Hopefully do our confidence a bit of good.

You should try being an Elgin supporter if you think it’s difficult getting players in!

Didn’t think there was too much in the game but we didn’t create much. Will take time for a team to gel but would be worried if this was the squad for the season. Have heard there are potentially a couple more players coming in.

Obviously means we have been unsuccessful with other targets. Draper was asked about him following the Forres game and more or less said he had other targets. He comes with a good reputation from the HL though.

Dolzanski is long term injured so out of the question at the moment and still needs someone experienced to talk him through a game. Cooney ain’t big or physical enough for centre back in this league unless one of three.

What quality did they bring apart from running around a lot Hoban exempted? Who are you playing at Centre Back instead of Draper?

Who’d be a Manager eh. Lump it up the pitch to no one and the fans are moaning, try to play some fitba and the fans are moaning. I would agree that playing from the back is maybe not the style for Div 2 especially with this group of players. The only player capable of receiving and passing to one of his own players with any regularity is Soapy, which once again was abundantly clear yesterday. The loanees, being full time players, you would hope would have these qualities? I’m sure it’s a work in progress and Draper will be aware of what he needs but I fear the players needed are out with our financial and geographical reach. It’s still pre season though and I’ve seen poor pre seasons turning into good seasons but I must admit I’m not overly confident at the moment

Was thinking more of a loan for the year and see where he’s at then. Just think you might regret letting him go a season after stepping up from HL.

What’s your thoughts on Shanks. Has been scoring regularly with Peterhead pre season. Strikers are difficult to get, maybe premature on letting him go?

I thought Cooney did ok in his first stint at the club and was unlucky not to get more game time. I suspected Harvey being an Elgin loon might be a signing target. Hopefully a few more to come.

The way I read it is that with Tatters taking a back seat maybe Mr Scott had designs on being chairman and was using his sponsorship as leverage. When he was called out and email came to light he took the huff, aired the dirty laundry in public, perhaps looking for a climb down and resignation from Benzie? I wonder if he would have conducted his business this way if it was a Gleaner matter?
