  1. Still the #1 piece of fitba commentary of all time IMO. Will probably never take a hell of a beating.
  2. Dream start for Ton. Great to see Michael Garrity straight in there.
  3. Dougie said that a couple of players were carrying 'little knocks' and that he needed to be very careful about team selections with 4 games coming up inside 10 days. I'm guessing that he's picked the above as the most sensible starting XI given all of that. It's great for us to have strength in depth though. The reduction in our squad injury horrors at the beginning of the season is probably the single most important factor in our current run of success IMO.
  4. Fabulous result for Pars. Fabulous result for us. I can almost taste the avocado. Partick fans;
  5. Sold out in no time at all. - that's some going. Fair play to the Hearts travelling support. For those who haven't been - Cappielow's one of the few remaining 'grand old lady' traditional grounds in Scottish fitba. We've been there since 1879. Those who come often express initial surprise at how basic, uncomfortable and antiquated it all is - but a huge proportion also come away having loved the authentic experience, never having been part of an atmosphere quite like it. It's a wee slice of fitba magic under the lights - two of which, incidentally were purchased second-hand from St. Mirren.
  6. That’s a shame. Dougie Imrie has already heard about this.
  7. To get where you want to go, you need a map. Seeing all this makes me very happy.
  8. I have to say that I've never had any idea how anyone (Rhys McCabe) can manage a club at the same time as being a player. It must be such hard work. That said, he seems to be doing a solid job and he mostly has the team playing decent fitba. Despite the result, I thought that there was no shame in Airdrie's performance against Hearts - they were simply outclassed by a better set of players from a higher division who scored some absolute stoaters along the way. That said, if they play the same game and we get right in their faces from the get-go (as we often do) I honestly don't see how their back four are going to deal with it. One of the things Dougie Imrie does exceptionally well is to scope out our opposition and put a specific gameplan in place to capitalise on any weaknesses he sees, whilst simultaneously putting tactics in place aimed at stifling any real strengths. Our current league position demands that we put some points distance between Airdrie and ourselves, whilst continuing to snap at Partick's heels waiting for them to slip up. A crucial game for both teams for sure.
  9. It's so you have some money left for a pie. I can heartily recommend the Mac & Cheese ones if they're on - or failing that, the kebab ones are stellar. Go on. You know you want to.
  10. His post-match after we’d sworded them 3-2 at Tannadice is probably the most embarrassingly disingenuous 10 minutes of TV I’ll watch all season.
  11. Candidate for goal of the season right there. An absolute stoater.
  12. Very public-spirited of you, Rudy. I’m sure the señoritas will be running a mile every time they see a laddie wearing blue & white hoops. Adios, amigo.
  13. So that’s me fucked for the game. Working a late one on Monday which I 100% can’t get out of. Only minuscule consolation is that Cappielow’s magic under the lights. I hope those able to attend have a great night.
  14. Absolutely massive props for this, VT. The only-known P&B example of a correctly-accented 'Sch' consonant from the Czech Republic. I was going to say 'Superb' - but I thought better of it.
  15. You're most welcome mate. Google Translate was my friend.
  16. Trainline obviously assumed that you'd forgotten to mention your wheelchair, your bicycle, your false leg (the other one, without the dodgy ankle), your Sinclair C5, the forklift for your vast luggage pile, the fact that you're blind, the fact that you suffer from Siderodromophobia (fear of trains) - and that you're a Japanese person who can't read any English signs............ ........... and the fact that you're a Hearts supporter. Since I'm feeling sporting and conciliatory today (along with the fact that you have to suffer the horror of spending more than 30 seconds in Glasgow) - I'll allow it. I wish you a great night. Best wishes from Greenock.
  17. Cheers for the info. Friday-night fitba under the Cappielow lights is magic.
  18. At the Airdrie vs Hearts game, the pundits (including Dougie) were standing on the pitch, not sat on top of an ivory-tower pile of space-taking scaffolding. A better solution all round IMHO - and easier for them to get to the pie stall.
  19. Great idea. Whilst we're at it, we should just make Celtic or Sevco default champions and have the rest of the Premiership coming in as joint bottom.
  20. 1874 = Morton FC founded. 1874 = Heart of Midlothian FC founded. 1874 = First Scottish Cup final played. 150 years later - all three come together. There's not another fixture globally (nor is there ever likely to be) which celebrates a combined history of 450 years - just 50 years shy of half a millenium. That's an incredible legacy for both teams, and also for the competition we're playing in. Win or lose, supporters of both sides should be proud of just being at this game, and of the Scottish fitba history it represents. We'll go into this as complete underdogs, and it's worth mentioning that we have the lowest budget in the Championship, just to put this gaping chasm into perspective. Hearts played some lovely, flowing football against Airdrie, scoring some absolute stoaters along the way. Unlike the lacklustre Motherwell the other night, they look and play like a proper Premiership team - right up there with the best the country has to offer. Shankland's a machine and the understandable media focus because of his epic strike rate, but there's quality running throughout the whole side, and they'll be incredibly difficult to control, let alone beat. They also have a keeper who isn't a bombscare, and they'll bring a fantastic travelling support who I'm sure will once again help turn Cappielow into a deafening, hoaching cauldron. That said, we're unbeaten now in 13 games, not having lost since 18th November 2023. and Irrespective of the fact that our opposition is nowhere near the quality of Hearts, that's still quite the achievement. In Dougie Imrie, we have a manager who has the ability to get his players to run through brick walls for him, and the fighting spirit and confidence in the camp is as high as I've ever known it. He also has the ability to read our opponents exceptionally well, and put individual gameplans in place which are highly specific to whoever we're playing. The magic of the Scottish Cup for me, though, is that games can sometimes be won by on-paper inferior teams through sheer guts, determination, and just wanting it more. I'm sure everyone reading this will know just how up for this we'll be - it has the makings of an absolute classic blood-and-guts cup tie. My head says that it will be a Hearts win, but my heart's hoping for the wee miracle. Mon eh Ton !!
  21. The capacity issue at Cappielow for the Motherwell game was a bit of a last-minute stramash. Our GM's on the case straightaway which is good to see. With better forward planning it will be hoaching.
