  1. Have to disagree here. The Hearts boy picks the ball up and powers past all our midfielders and drops the ball to Shankland who has nobody within miles of him because Broadfoot has tried to step into the middle of the park. Absolutely not Robbie’s fault. For me the big fella put in a shift tonight and was clearly carrying an injury towards the end. Hopefully he’s just done in and it’s nothing more or we’ll be starting with one of Garrity, Crawford, Bearne or McGrattan through the middle on Saturday which is equally a massive game as tonight was in terms of the season.
  2. If Arbroath can get their act together they will fancy their chances of catching Dunfermline for the playoff spot. Very much looking like the towels been flung in from them. McPake hanging on with his finger nails now surely?
  3. Of course are. Which is why I said “shock” fully expecting Partick to progress today. Was more meaning the way it’ll be spun with a championship team dumping another team from the Prem out.
  4. Would probably rather dodge Killie if given the option as McInness has them going well but again at Cappielow we wouldn’t be turned over easily. Assuming Livi & Hibs come through their ties without a “shock” would really fancy our chance vs either again especially at home.
  5. Still buzzing with that last night. Such a nice change to see a Morton team not completely shite it in front of a big crowd at Cappielow as we’ve seen us do so many times before. Really looking forward to the draw on Sunday. Anybody at Cappielow and we’ve a good shot at getting to the semis which for any club is massive but for us and the payday It would then give us, it would be a real boost for next season.
  6. Kelly really was a bomb scare from the first whistle tonight. He was incredibly lucky he never dropped one at O’Connor’s feet in the first half and looked generally shite throughout. If he makes the Scotland squad this summer over Gordon I’d be very, very shocked.
  7. Well deserved for us tonight. Up until the goal I felt we were completely in control. Even then Motherwell never really properly threatened us. Fantastic scenes from Imrie at the end as well. No matter who we get in the next round we’re probably guaranteed a payday which will help us into next season.
  8. Huge fan of the Dunfermline keeper/defender doing their absolute best to ensure we scored our 5th. Top effort lads!
  9. Heading up to the game yesterday I would’ve absolutely took a point given our last two outings. But we steamrollered Dunfermline, can’t even think of a save Mullin had to make? A fantastic day out was had. When you look about the league and see the players brought in from down south who are untested against our settled squad I know what I’d rather. MOTM for me yesterday was Alan Power who was superb in the middle of the park.
  10. Our unbeaten run has to and will end at some point. The last two weeks have been well below the performances that we know this group are capable of, however I’m sure Imrie will be looking to rectify that this week and has already addressed it in his post match interview. The middle pack still fairly tight together only 5 points separating 4th to 8th so I’d take a point if offered now but if we’re looking to cement ourselves in 4th and have any chance of catching Partick we really should be looking at a win. Especially against another poor injury ravaged team and us “playing a certain style of football”
  11. You talk about the game up at Gayfield as tho we weren’t in the middle of an injury crisis ourselves then. We started with Wilson at left back and Blues at right back that day.
  12. Do I think we played particularly well? No. But do I think we had another couple of gears to go up and if needed and under normal circumstances when a team is full strength and coming at us rather than self preserve, rightly so given you’ve next to no fit players then the answer would be yes. As mentioned elsewhere in the thread I think both penalty decisions were correct and Jacobs can really only blame himself for being sent off today. The highlights may tell us differently when they come out but for me live it was pretty black and white for all three shouts.
  13. Will start by saying I actually felt very sorry for the Arbroath players. Thought they managed the game well with 10 and being in their obvious position regarding injuries, they frustrated and kept us from creating anything clear cut. Once we scored that was it tho. Training game from there on in. Felt both bookings were probably correct. I’d be more annoyed at Jacobs than I would at the ref for his second booking. Really silly from him when there was no real danger from the Morton attack. Add to that both clear penalties as well. Clear handball for the first and a clear trip on Crawford for the second. On our performance felt as though we picked up where we left off last week. Kinda sluggish, was just a matter of time before we scored and then after that it was all about seeing the game out.
  14. We’ve been fairly solid at that back(United away aside) for a while now. Heart says 2-0 home win, head says it’s not always as straightforward as that.
  15. Really is fantastic news. Can see us finishing the month strong with a few more contract extensions/pre contract agreements hopefully.
  16. If the situation remains the same I’d be very disappointed with anything other than a comfortable win. Oakley gives actual defenders a terrible time never mind a thrown together back 4 made up of strikers and injured guys. We know all to well how hard it is with an injury hit squad. Guys flung into positions they don’t naturally play generally ends up in disaster.
  17. Grim reading for your lads that is. Are you expecting any one of them back before the weekend? Or even any incomings at least? From a purely selfish Morton point of view I really hope not. A win on Saturday plus results elsewhere puts daylight between ourselves and 10th while also potentially putting us 4th. Fingers crossed the Arbroath hoodoo is broken!
  18. From the cowshed it looked a stonewaller. Blues got a toe to the ball first and the Montrose boy has caught him. Penalty all day long. We’ve had our complaints recently about the standard of refereeing(and rightly so) but the ref was the best we’ve had in weeks and weeks yesterday. Probably was the most difficult game he’ll ever have but was a nice change of pace from the usual dross we’ve been used to.
  19. If Montrose had a bit more of a cutting edge in the final third, first half especially we could’ve found ourselves out on our arse. The early goal in the second half just about kills it and it ends up a bit of a training game at times for the remainder of the match. Shout out to the Montrose young team for coming down in their numbers, following their local team trying to create an atmosphere. Hope they stick at it!
  20. Would imagine we will see some rotation going by Imrie’s pre match interview. Maybe see Waters picking up some minutes whether that be a start or say the last half hour who knows. Quitongo, Boyd, McGrattan & Bearne are the others who all need game time but as mentioned above would be very cautious with to much of a shuffle if the pack. Potentially a banana skin here today. Any sort of win and into the next round please Morton!
  21. If we do it probably won’t be worth buying. The quality of streaming service we offer these days is a known liability.
  22. Graham getting bullied by Oakley today reminded me of the same performance he put up against Ugwu on the opening day a few seasons ago when he was with Dunfermline.
  23. Really hope we can keep this run going. Not any signs of us slowing down either. Both strikers firing in goals is very welcome. Can’t remember the last time we weren’t reliant on one player to come up with goods on a regular basis. Long may it continue!
  24. Have to agree with this. The main guy was pretty decent. Called the game as it was. The other roaster however was murder.
