  1. They have fallen apart since Gilmour got injured. He was the key to their tactical approach. Baleba can't cut it. When Billy is back they will go back to an upper middle table side.
  2. Trent badly at fault for both goals. From a defensive perspective the 'new Cafu' wouldn't look out of place in league two, gutless and clueless. Sadly no chance Southgate will ever try him in defence. Wonder what the new Liverpool manager will do, don't expect any other big clubs would want to buy him.
  3. Given my fantasy pl rivals have Pickford and I don't, it's clear the conspiracy is against me personally and Nottingham Forest are just collateral damage. Having looked at the table though, if you're a Luton fan I thought that a draw would have been the preferable result. Looks like relegation and title winners will be sorted relatively early. The league of late drama has been pretty poor in recent seasons on late season drama.
  4. The real farmers league having a total mare last night, and they are fair getting scudded in the Europa league too. A St. George's day* massacre. Even better is the tear stained reaction from their fans online insisting that they really are the best, honest guv, this is all just a mistake. The articles about the inevitable all English semi final make for an especially good read. Now 6 CL English winners since the start of the millennium, Spain has 6 in the last ten years alone (10 this millennium). Even hiring Spanish coaches and signing Iberian players isn't closing the gap. Aston Villa is their last realistic chance in Europes third tier comp, Unai Emery alone has won as many Europa League titles as English football as a whole has since 2002. If you can't beat em hire em. And still lose. *Well at least the months the same.
  5. Shame for the player most of all hope this is something he can recover from and still get his big move. Even worse if it came from his own tackle.... He wouldn't have started but would have definitely played a role in the Euros.
  6. You do realise that Van Dijk also wasn't spotted as a top class player until well into his career right? He was 27 when he moved to Liverpool, Robertson was 23. I highly doubt the long term plan was for him to be backup to Moreno Liverpool saw his excellent potential. Have to disagree you that the standard isn't better - games from 20 years ago look pretty crap low tempo affairs compared to now. And the premier league at that time had the odd great foreign player - now it is full of them (and does far better in Europe too). Do you really think Klopp would trade present day Robertson for prime Denis Irwin or Nigel Winterburn? Neither is capable of doing what Robertson does - he's redefined that position. Incidentally Trent is, and will be, a far better right back than Gary Neville. Robbo might only be fully appreciated when he retires, he's a fantastic player, think he still has many years in him too.
  7. Only Ashley Cole comes close and even then Robertson is certainly far more creative. As for Irwin? Not a chance for me, for the same reason Steve Bruce or Gary Pallister aren't as good as Van Dijk. The standard is far better now, as is what is expected of a full back. As for Patrice Evra - a wild take, even Evras mum would accept Robbo is a far better player.
  8. This seems to have upset some people Can't think of a better one mind, assist wise he's already well out in front. Criminally underrated by some it seems.
  9. Going to call it now, Curtis Jones will have a similar career to Jay Spearing. Also funny seeing the Liverpool fans leaving, and the commentators not daring to mention it. Shite fairweather fans.
  10. Unbelievable from Andy Robertson What a player he is by the way. Best left back of the premier league era, possibly ever in English football.
  11. Due to US legislation my company is now required to publish US salary ranges on its internal job platform. Which confirmed what all of us kind of knew, for the exact same job UK Vs US our salary would at the very least double, and could well triple. Bonus percentages are also significantly higher and medical health insurance fully covered. The downside is the reduced annual leave but they also seem to treat their staff better in terms of flexible WFH policies (and they do a 9 day fortnight). The economist published an article recently saying the UK is now closer to Slovenia than it is Denmark (never mind the great chasm to the US). My work do a lot of outsourcing to Poland which they are rolling back because the salary differential is so low it is no longer worth it. If you are young and can get out of the UK you probably should - I haven't lived there since 2016 and no intention of going back!
  12. Spanish football has totally conquered European competitions this millennium, not only have they won by far the most trophies they have the most quarter finalists this year again. And even the holders, with a Spanish coach, a clutch of Iberian players, a style of play far more Spanish than 4-4-2, are the ultimate tribute act. If you can't beat them join them. Vive Espana.
  13. Yep, I wonder how long his act has got. George Galloway seems to be the shite that won't flush. Thankfully we will only be suffering Barton and Fox for years, not decades, before they get permanently cancelled / go so far off the rails they live under a bridge. Kind of, he's a very dirty player on the pitch and swore on his daughters life he touched a ball just to get a goal (which he was given even when the camera proof was against him). A very good professional, but clearly still a bit of a wrong un.
  14. For office workers? There's a whole world out there I didn't even know. Even the free fruit and bi weekly bacon rolls stopped about 7 years ago. Service companies look to be where it's at.
  15. Everton docked a further two points. It's a chaotic look and puts the whole league in a bad light. Good.
