  1. Sad to see Sula go. If he was just a bit less error prone he'd be a great player at this level and would compliment Hamilton's strengths nicely. Connor Young showed flashes too. Neil Parry should be thanked for coming back out of retirement when last season was clearly one too far out of mercy to Jim Duffy, who it seemed knew Jack Leighfield and literally no other goalkeeper. Scullion and Cameron just weren't cut out for this level but I do wish them the best elsewhere. Cameron in particular I think is a tidy enough player, just playing at a level so far above his abilities it has rendered him largely ineffective. Can't have been fun at the club the last two years so I hope he goes and enjoys his football elsewhere.
  2. Hahaha, aye fingers crossed! Not at all. What I'm saying is Maitland needs to make sure we know who the manager is for next season, ASAP. I have faith in his abilities to do that but I was just stating the implications of him failing to do so.
  3. It wasn't Rory diving. He ran into the back of Liam Scullion, Scullion goes down and the ball hits his hand on his way (looks like he's claiming for a foul). The tie is well in the balance here and from a Clyde perspective I'd prefer Peterhead went up since they've had the better of us for years now with the exception of both sides' 22-23 banter season. Can't deny it would be a bit funny if a nonsense penalty kept them down after that incident though.
  4. Every chance it's just the ref is pish, I'm not an expert, but has there not been a rule for a few years now where handball isn't awarded if a player accidentally plays it onto their own hand off another part of their body?
  5. I'd like him to stay but if he wanted to go then fair enough. He did what he was asked to with us, he has deep ties to QotS and they're a total mess at the moment. His comments post Elgin suggest we'd have to really push the boat out to keep him and may give him and the board a convenient/amicable excuse to part ways. Just as long as the decision, either way, is taken quickly. We can't allow ourselves to fall way behind the pack for recruitment like we do every single summer.
  6. Can only see Goss leaving Annan to follow Murphy if he went to QotS. Wage demands would likely be huge to accommodate travel, a drop in league and his track record of success at this level. Given the direct style of play McCall seems to prefer though, he's exactly what we're after but probably out of our price range currently. Hard to think of many like-for-like alternatives but, for pure speculation if nothing else, I see Innes Cameron is out of contract at Killie in the summer (according to transfermarkt anyway). 156 minutes of football all season and some meh loan spells in the Championship. Did do well for Stranraer in League One though. 23 years old now so needs to be playing every week. Could he be convinced to drop to part time football and build back up with regular playing time under his belt?
  7. I don't think he has found a club since leaving us, no. Bear him no ill will, his attitude was fine but he looked completely shot of confidence by the end culminating in him throwing the ball into the net for Elgin to win a 6 pointer against us at the end of January. If he moves a level down I think the fresh start will do him good and he can kick on. What you've said sounds about right though. Don't remember him ever making a great save. That's fine if the he isn't making errors that better keepers may also make but then atone for. He would make the errors and not make up for them though. Also had an annoying knack of conceding the first shot he faced. Think his save percentage in league games was around the 40% mark by the time he left. Fans in the division said he would be an alright signing last summer but he's a strong competitor for worst Clyde no.1 I can remember. Guy called JC Hutchison is the only other that would come close.
  8. Arguably the worst Clyde side of my lifetime took points off Dunfermline (twice) and Falkirk last season and finished with near 3 times the points total Edinburgh Uni managed this season. They were crap, to put it mildly. There might be some decent players in the Edinburgh Uni side and they're maybe good for a uni team but the table doesn't lie, in terms of senior competitive football they are dung and you caught them on a good day.
  9. Losing to that Edinburgh Uni team would take some doing. Be interesting to see how they get on next season without the League Cup distraction and, I think, still some solidarity payment? Relegated from this league with those stats would be a real kick in the teeth. How was Leighfield for you? Having seen him this year I'd built a picture of your attack doing it's job but very little getting saved at the other end. If we'd replaced him earlier we finish at least one place higher this season imo.
  10. Trust me, you don't have to inform me of the quality that can be found in tier 5. Brechin and Stirling University have both beaten us this season! For the LL relegated sides I think it's worth looking into their circumstances. Berwick, and potentially Stranraer, are remote and will have lost out on access to players they could have tempted with league football. Shire and Cowdenbeath were probably victims of having another side in the immediate vicinity beating them out to the niche they were looking for, Stenny and Kelty respectively. Albion are probably the odd ones out. Their fans would have a better idea but it looked they had a very imbalanced side last season made of mostly dross (e.g. Jack Leighfield and Josh McCulloch) but mitigated by a few gems, particularly in attack. They've been stripped of the good players though and they will always be hard to replace
  11. That was absolutely tremendous yesterday. On top of the performance and survival, got the wee one along for her first game with her great grandad. Proud moment for me as Clyde enters the fourth generation in the family. On to next season, first order of business should be ensuring McCall is here or, if not, bringing in a suitable replacement. Would like him to stay though. I think one of the board's less crazy decisions last summer was trying to keep a core of a squad for continuity to then build around. We just lost most of our best players whereas Peterhead, who came down in worse shape than us, did a good job keeping hold of their better players. With that in mind, the only players I wouldn't offer a new contract to would be Neil Parry, Peter Grant*, Josh McCulloch*, Euan Cameron and Conor Scullion. Just assuming all the loan players are away for good too. Would be great to somehow get Allan back though. I think Ballantyne has come in for some criticism in his time too but when I've seen us get the ball down and pass it rather than shelling it long the first chance we get, I think he's looked a good player. The rest of that squad can all contribute to success to varying degrees. It's important we build the remainder of the squad with real quality though, something we've failed to do since at least our first season back in League One. *Believe these two are contracted for next season anyway.
  12. A move that was incredibly unpopular with nearly everyone at the club and was promptly shot down. Our jumping about from town to town is embarrassing, yes. Flip side is, we're still pulling in crowds far in excess of EK. Not to mention the fact we're competing with clubs embedded in communities year on year despite having totally hamstrung ourselves in that regard for about three decades now. It's our own fault but the vast majority of part time clubs subjected to our state of existence would be dead and gone by now, Arbroath included.
  13. Aye, fair. Personally, and I'd imagine for many others, the particular gripe with EK is the combination of burning through money with a miniscule fanbase and having Kennedy/Ferry in charge. They've maybe taken a financial shortcut to it but the table doesn't lie and they've won the right to promotion on merit. I'd be a hypocrite to criticise a side just for chucking money about as its the only reason we're not going down this season, albeit much of that was used to pay off the squad Duffy assembled last summer.
  14. Have EK not already drawn Celtic at home in the Scottish Cup? If what you say is true, the attendances before that must have been shockingly low
  15. Fair. Given the trajectories of the two clubs you'd fancy Dumbarton as long as Farrell doesn't overthink it. The result yesterday is hardly a disaster given the rotation and travel involved
  16. Given the noises from both camps you'd fancy Dumbarton. Binos fans can draw hope from the fact Dumbarton have just lost though. I gather this will prompt Farrell to decide the next starting XI by tombola/dart board?
  17. So East Kilbride had about half the average home attendance that Linlithgow managed despite being from a town more than 5 times the size, assembling an expensive squad and running away with the league? Obviously worth revisiting if/when they get up to league 2 but, on the face of it, barely anyone in EK cares.
  18. And when you did go direct I thought you caused us most problems. Felt you did start quite direct but changed approach. Fair enough when you go behind I suppose but it was a bit early
  19. Stuck into the peri-peri Gretna boys. Hope to see you up next season
  20. Brechin, silly! Big-dogs Stranraer will be waiting in the final. Your galacticos didn't bottle the league and then moan about the league allowing another team to fulfill their fixtures... did they?
  21. Still felt nervous af until the third given Stranraer doing the business. Feels like a massive weight off though. Elgin were maybe more disappointing than poor. Looked very dangerous on the break but lacked the composure that we showed. With that in mind, we could/should have had 4 or 5. I'm quick to dish out criticism to refs against us so I'll be honest, i thought we got the breaks in most 50:50s today. Elgin looked unlucky not to have a penalty in the first half. Fair play getting the yellow out though for what looked a pretty blatant dive in the second. Rennie and Scullion were tremendous. Our midfield as a unit was excellent and that was Ballantyne's best game in a Clyde shirt. After the first 15/20 minutes I thought the defence settled and looked solid too. Kinnear was calming when called upon. Elgin not getting the penalty at 0-0 and our second were turning points I thought. First for obvious reasons and our second goal came at a time when we were starting to surrender possession cheaply and quickly. That goal just calmed things right down. It hasn't been smooth sailing but McCall and the whole team deserve massive praise. To put it bluntly, they looked fucked in February. Time to enjoy the summer!
  22. Best of luck in your play-off semi vs East Kilbride!
  23. Cheers! Stupid question but just wanted to check
