  1. When his signing was announced the length of deal wasn't, which is unusual considering that all of the others were. I wondered at the time if the length of contract may have been what attracted him?
  2. There was a story doing the rounds that a guy, who had been at Brockville watching the match, left the ground at full time, went staright to the pub and Willie (who apparently wasn't best known for personal hygiene) was already sitting in the corner quietly drinking with the imprint of the ball on his forehead!
  3. <<<<George Gibson was my favourite ever Falkirk player. Guy just oozed class and never looked like he broke sweat. I do concede however that there's probably a bit of nostalgia involved in that as I was young at the time. Very hard to pick from Stainrod, Latapy & Crunchie however I look at it from the angle of who I would like back in the team now (at their Falkirk prime & if I could only pick one) and I think that would probably be Simon.
  4. Gomis will be 35 in the summer. As good as he's been this season, I'd think twice about offering him another deal if we're in the division above. You make a good point however we'll need a squad, not just a starting 11 and I think it would be good to know that we could bring a player of his quality on in games.
  5. So, what I think you're really saying is that the BOD/MSG have made a rip-roaring c**t of things which is something that I think we all agree on!
  6. Off the top of my head I think that Bell, Doyle, Durnan, Buchanan, Telfer, Tidser, Connolly & Sammon (who I suspect may be even longer) are the ones on the longest deals. As things stand I don't think that Durnan, Buchanan, Telfer & Tidser would be much help to us in the Championship, maybe even Sammon too? Bell's struggling fitness wise and Doyle & Connolly would probably be considered of average quality? I think it could be very difficult to move on any of them TBH. The players that I think we would want to keep would be Dixon, Miller, Gomis, Longridge & McManus, all of whom are out of contract in the summer I think so will be difficult to retain. That leaves us with McShane, McLean, Leitch, Laverty and McMillan from McKinnon's tenure that we'd be in a position to release in the summer and I think it's fair to say that they'll all have to go to allow us to get better in.
  7. I knew it was something derisory. I'm sure we paid a hell of a lot more to bring him back too!
  8. You're surely answering you're own question though by stating that we had to sell to fill the void? Hamilton presumably (I've no idea) were in a fairly comfortable position financially to be able to knock back the early bids? If not, I'm pretty sure that their fans wouldn't have been very happy if they went bust when they could've accepted decent offers! Without knowing exact figures, I think we did OK with Kingsley and McGrandles, particularly with add-on's. As it turns out the add-on's with McGrandles weren't great due to his injury though which is a pity because, for me, he was the best of them. Do you think we should have held on to Blair, Biabi & Gallagher or taken the money offered?
  9. Did Crunchie not go to Chelsea for something ridiculous, like £30k?
  10. Boy on Facebook saying he's going to ICT. I suppose he's as well lying on their treatment table as ours!
  11. Surprised that nobody's mentioned one of the big positives from Saturday (I don't think), namely that we managed to keep Gomis on the field for the full 90. Is that the first time this season? Didn't look puffed oot either.
  12. Don't say it three times as he'll appear in goals on Saturday!
  13. Longridge is arguably our most talented player so, aye, it would perfect sense to allow him to go to one of our main rivals!
  14. He's very good with the ball at his feet but I do think that he tries to prove that a bit to often at times. He's already made a couple of glaring errors by trying to be too clever, against Dunfermline and Montrose. Obviously he's a wee bit older and more experienced now so I hope he's learned from that.
  15. If he'd lumped it out of the park last week we'd be 2 points better off.
  16. Some nice passages of play in the 2nd half, two of them resulting in really good goals. We need to do that on a consistent basis though which we haven't really managed all season. For example, I thought Sammon and McManus showed some good understanding between them but that doesn't happen often enough. I assume that M&M have been working on this sort of thing so maybe we'll see things improve on that front? I thought Dixon was excellent, followed by McManus and then Gomis, Miller and Connolly. The rest were pretty average.
  17. Buchanan would be shite in centre midfield No, Miller the back with Buchanan and, oh never mind!
  18. As in, you don't think he was good enough, or because he only played a handful of games during the decade?
  19. I think I'd rather play Miller at the back with Buchanan and McShane in midfield.
  20. Right back is a difficult one as we've been pretty poor in that position for years. I do think that Duffie was better than Muirhead in that position although he was no great shakes either. Although he played LB for the majority of his time with us I'd put Dean Holden in there (assuming we can count him as his last game was 2009). Not sure why you don't rate Taylor and I'm assuming that the 'bottle job' comment was a reference to his miss in the SC semi? However, he had been our top scorer for many years, in fact I think that the last player to score more than him over one season with us was Doug Moran, who the vast majority of Falkirk fans would not even have seen in the flesh? (probably completely wrong with that). I'd have McGrandles over Kerr as well, based on Mark's second spell.
