There's Ben Jackson on loan announced. Haven't seen any of the friendlies to know how he's looked, closest to professional minutes he's had was playing for the U21s in the EFL Trophy, which even the actual EFL teams treat as a joke so still wouldn't be the best indicator.

I thought he looked ok against Spartans in difficult conditions. Glad we have eased the concerns about depth at centre-back in the last week.

I see he has taken Carson's squad number. Hopefully means we are close to moving him on, if Martindale doesn't fancy him.

How’s muirhead done for you guys in the friendlies ?

Only seen our first pre season game against Alloa, and he looked awful, unfit and out of his depth. However going by reports he's had a couple of good games since. Particularly in the 5-1 win over Kelty, where him and Sole linked up well.

Struggled at first but seems to be settling better and has started to build some attacking partnerships. Early days particularly as my Morton supporting Bro in law described him as one of the most frustrating players....

Good to hear he’s picked up a bit of form since Alloa , Been hoping the big man does well

Your bro in law is spot on about being a frustrating player , he can produce a piece of magic outa nowhere personally I wasn’t his biggest fan at Morton but like I said to Liviforever I hope the big man does well

Tbh, I’d rather a frustrating player who has a bit of Magic. It is something we sorely missed last year. Someone to win us a game out of nothing.

Hopefully not the Nouble kind of frustrating, where he downed tools for a season and a half. I'd take Muirhead being frustrating if he scores 17 goals for us this season no problem.

On players that could get fans bums raised off their seats in anticipation of something happening, Montano (if he stays fit), Stephen Kelly (if he stays with us), Muirhead, and Sole, could be match winners, producing a bit of magic to score goals/get us goals.

I also liked the directness of Lawal, driving forward and always looking to get the ball going forward, and our new signing Olly Green seems to be the same. Will make a change from last season where we had far too many safety first players who's first thoughts were turning back towards our own goal, before making a sideways or backward pass.

Yeah, we lacked the balance between safe players and risk takers last season. McAlear looks like he could be a safety first kinda guy so far which we need but most of the other signings seem very forward focussed which is good to see

This was the sort of frustrating I was talking about. Nouble frustration not so keen on and he was rarely a match winner
