As most of the fish/seafood sold by supermarkets is already anything from 2 - 3 weeks old from the actual date of the catch, can i suggest you try and support local fishmonger businesses going forward.  They will have genuine "fresh" produce and the small amount extra paid is more than returned in the quality and taste of the fish or seafood.

Just an opinion.

Take it you missed the post where I said I'm getting stuff from my local mobile fishmonger.

Also, I fucking HATE the phrase "going forward".

Theres a wanky buzzword thread where I imagine going forward will feature heavily.

Maybe you should touch base there and see....

Maybe someone in the Falkirk area knows something I dont but the availability of fresh shellfish in particular is shite. Morrisons is about the best but probably cut right back atm. MJW are very hit and miss and the one in Callendar Square same. They carry a lot of frozen stuff I think but fresh is limited.

Not sure who the best online retailers are tbh. Theres bound to be some that are good.

Do you not get a fish van around yours? Mine will get me anything I'm after if he doesn't usually carry it.

The industry has been basically shut down since lockdown, the ones that have kept going are getting shite prices, making it not worth their while. Some have just been selling catch from the pier  to the public. All the main buyers freezers have been full, but things are starting to slowly move again, it should start getting better

My fish van's doing a storming trade, probably got a lot of shielded customers who can't get out to the shops.

Spoiled here as an Arbroath fish van visits regularly. Good to see our local fishmonger is back up and running, so had haddock last night and salmon with roasted vegetables tonight including Eassie asparagus. Wine was average but finished now. Rerr.
