This was known as "The Pilrig Street muddle". There were also separate licencing arrangements meaning separate licencing hours. The Boundary Bar was on the boundary and this meant when it was last orders in Edinburgh punters could cross to the other side of the pub and get a pint in Leith where the pubs were still open. The Boundary was a bit rough a few years ago but has been done up. I haven't been in so I don't know what it's like now. That's outstanding.I love that shit.
