This is from the BBC website about the ‘crumbly’ schools in England.

Some more comments now from Prof Chris Goodier, concrete expert at Loughborough University, who spoke to BBC Breakfast earlier.

Nice to see there are real concrete experts out there.

And now Dundee Uni saying their shoddy concrete work is going to cost millions to repair.

I wonder who in Dundee works on concrete, and may be to blame for all this?

Good job there’s ALWAYS funding for estates but never funding for staff.

I found this bit of the report interesting.

RAAC is a cheap version of concrete that was used mostly in construction between the 1950s and 1990s.

The Health and Safety Executive said RAAC was now beyond its lifespan and may "collapse with little or no notice".

That suggests that it has been known for some time that this was an issue that would need to be addressed.

You should see the big shiny building opposite my office. It's beautiful.

Meantime, we have a staff:student ratio around 1:70 this year.

Congratulations on a fine recruitment drive. Your admin colleagues in admissions must all be due a raise, an award, and promotion to middle management. Can’t have too many middle managers.

Dont worry, a few bits of crumbly concrete will have that ratio down to 1:35 before the end of the year.

Bookmarked for the inevitable roof falls on head moment, like the antivaxxers who died from Covid.

I was shown it at the weekend. It's eye opening there's a boy going around building sites taking the boots of the trades feet and licking them clean.
