peasy23
Brilliant stage win for Michael Storer, had a decent lead coming over the final climb and held on to win with plenty to spare.

Then crashes on the descent & gets away with it.
peasy23
Yates and Bernal over half a minute down on Roglic and having to do all the work to try and keep it that way.
peasy23
Eiking goes into red, but Roglic will be quite happy to have picked up some time on some of the other main contenders.
buddie06smfc
Ineos’ 3-prong attack for GC not really working again. No one can compete with the 2 Slovenians over the 3 week tours by the looks of it. I’d expect Mas to be well distanced between now & Sunday as Roglic doesn’t look to be suffering from today’s crash.

Yup, other GT winners just can't compete. Whatever they're currently doing in Slovenia, is certainly working a treat.
kiddy
Carapaz & Narvaez have both abandoned La Vuelta, making Bernal's chances that bit harder. Makes you wonder, given his efforts & help in the Giro, why Dani Martinez was omitted from their team selection going into the race? Gnash
Fantastic solo ride - 87km up the mountains - by Rafa Majka to win the stage. Chapeau.

He was of great help to Carapaz at the Tour de Suisse yet hasn’t had a look in for either the Tour or the Vuelta.
kiddy
Bernal attacks with 60 km to go, on the penultimate climb, on the way to Covadonga. Only Roglic can go with him.
kiddy
It's wet, there's still 1.3km to go on the climb & they've 45 secs on the peleton.I think Bernal will try & drop Roglic on the descent, given his propensity to crashing.Roglic still has 2.45 on Bernal. They've now got 1.27min, really pushing on but Bernal made a mistake at one point & unclipped. Both riding & sharing the work in the valley. Gap up to 1.45.
kiddy
Gap is dropping. was up to 2.10 but the bottom of the climb to Covadonga they've got 1.30 on the peloton & Bernal has fallen back off the virtual podium. (were doing 45 km/hr). Rojo jersey at 5.15.

kiddy
Roglic dropping Bernal. Another Lemond "unbelievable" moment These guys just can't help themselves. Bernal has planned on coming to form by week 3, yet he's "dominating" the race for the full 3 weeks, by a veritable mile. He's 55 up on Bernal & 1.47 up on the other GC contenders Edited September 1, 2021 by kiddy
kiddy
Roglic wins on Covedonga, Bernal comes in with the GC contenders 1.34 down. He even took 5 secs off them from the bottom, himself. Martin rolls in 4.45 down. Roglic actually passes them, with a jacket on & towel round his neck, when they're sprinting the last 50m to go for 2nd place! kiddy
Looks like Miguel Angel Lopez has thrown a massive strop, by abandoning, after making an arse of his podium spot.Wasn't paying attention during an attack by Adam Yates, & let a group of GC contenders go up the road, including his nearest rival Jack Haig. Lost 4+ minutes & climbed off.Just Movistar doing Movistar again.
