Any reason? Interesting all the same. He was lead rider in Italy (and said all the right things about wanting to win it and it being a special race when he did win) and you'd imagine he'll be their main guy at next year's Tour as long as he stays fit. Where would he go - could anyone afford him? Israel SUN maybe? Froome as a Mentor of some sort?
buddie06smfc
Good to see Tony Martin go out on a high especially after his crash-laden Tour in the summer. I see Astana are getting the old gang back together with Nibali & Lopez once his Movistar contract terminates next week. 1 minute ago, Salvo Montalbano said: Any reason? Interesting all the same. I was about to post likewise - couldn't think of a viable move at his price and to a team who could support his ambitions.

They're also the only team who don't appear to have an outright leader
kiddy
Elite Mens race today, 176 km to go, a break 4 mins up the road & Cort Neilson, Cousnefroy & Evenopoel attack from the peloton. Forces the Italians to chase.
kiddy
Outstanding win for JA, as he doubles up on Rainbow jerseys. Two in a row for the Frenchman, as WVA & the rest, just didn't have the legs when his decisive attack came.Van Barle & Valgren making up the podium.A creditable 6th for Pidcock, as he just fails to catch the chasing group, fighting out the medals, with a matter of meters to go.

Perhaps the ITT knackered him. Pidcock did brilliantly considering it was such a brutal race from the start. He should concentrate on the classics, especially the Monuments, next year.
well fan for life
Paris-Roubaix weekend off to a cracker with the inaugural women's race. Conditions have been horrendous with the rain & mud. Can't believe Deignan held this.
peasy23
Could be carnage in the men's race today. Rain and shiny cobbles aren't a good mix.
peasy23
Hard racing early on with a 30 man breakaway with a 1 minute gap, peleton working hard to get it back.
peasy23
Peleton are now 2.22 behind and even with 150km to go that's going to be tough to claw back in these conditions.
