captainkev
Exploding Daleks, Bad Wolf and the fact Hurt is wearing Eccleston jacket all must mean it is to do with the time war. It looks like Hurt's wearing McGann's fancy waistcoat underneath the leather jacket as though. I really hope they are going down the route of Hurt playing an early version of the Valeyard or perhaps something similar to what we saw in series 5 with the Dreamlord rather than having Hurt play an actual incarnation of the timelord who fits in between McGann and Eccleston that he's chosen to just ignore or refuses to acknowledge as the Doctor for whatever reason.

Yeah i noticed that about the waistcoat. I'd be surprised if he was a early version of the Valeyard, it's a good idea, but i'm not sure they would bring back a character from a Colin Baker story that not many of the "new" fans would have seen or known about. from what i've read, and i do apologise for the spoilers... "The Doctor and Clara are still trapped within the Doctor's timeline Guess we will need to wait and see, personally i'd have loved to seen McGann's Doctor play a part in it, to bridge the gap between him and Eccleston

"The Doctor and Clara are still trapped within the Doctor's timeline Guess we will need to wait and see, personally i'd have loved to seen McGann's Doctor play a part in it, to bridge the gap between him and Eccleston I think this is probably the best chance they'll ever get to set up an origin story for the Valeyard within the main show. The anniversary special gets a free pass on being self-indulgent with the show's history so they can afford to spend time resurrecting somebody like the Valeyard. The Zygons are coming back and they only ever appeared once in the history of the show (although admittedly they were very popular monsters). It's a shame that Doctor Who Confidential isn't around anymore because if there was one thing that show was quite good at it was explaining who and what certain monsters or aliens were to a new audience who hadn't seen them in the classic series. It'd be a real help for explaining a character like The Valeyard. I'm just very resistant to this idea of an intermediate incarnation between McGann and Eccleston that the Doctor has disowned which has been very popular ever since Hurt's appearance at the end of last series. The only thing that gives me any hope that Hurt's character might be a version of The Valeyard is that The Great Intelligence mentions that the Doctor will be called that at some point towards the end of his life in The Name of The Doctor. It's really exciting that they've at least done a good job of confining spoilers or any major leaks about this character and the anniversary story from mainstream media sources though. Yeah I noticed that in The Name of the Doctor they didn't give any resolution as to where the Doctor and Clara were and given that's it the 50th anniversary it's quite convienent to keep them in there. It also gives them an excuse for running into the 10th Doctor and they don't have to waste too much time contriving a reason for the two Doctors to meet.
South Lanarkshire Jag
The Valeyard should never ever return to Dr. Who IMO. Leave it back in the 80's with the old show. I don't know if I'm looking forward to this special or not. Have they spent an entire seasons budget on this and the Christmas Special since there are no more episodes until next Autumn?
Dr Koop
Saw the trailer you are talking of Dr Koop,- totally agree that Bradley has got Hartnell down to a tee. In some ways I am looking forward to this docudrama more that the actual Special for the 50th. I reckon John Hurt will steal the anniversary story. I'm keen to learn how it will all unfold.
Dr Koop
...who doesn't?! Well, I'd much rather have a giggly long-legged redhead bounce on my lap than spank off to porn. I take it this was an episode I missed? Maybe at Christmas?

South Lanarkshire Jag
2 'newly discovered' episodes to be released on iTunes on Wed. What would you like them to be?
captainkev
2 'newly discovered' episodes to be released on iTunes on Wed. What would you like them to be? Rumour has it that their both from Troughton stories. I'd love it if we could get another episode of Evil of the Daleks or The web of Fear. I'd be over the moon if they'd found Power of the Daleks. It'd be amazing to see Troughton's first episode as the Doctor.

There are worse complete stories that could be found. The Enemey of the World isn't a classic by any means but it's got Troughton playing the villain as well as the Doctor which we've not been able to properly appreciate with just the one episode that was previously available. Having The Web of Fear in it's entirety would be great too. It's the first appearance of Lethbridge-Stewart (The Brigadier) and since The Tomb of The Cymbermen was found back in the 90s, it's lost Troughton story that all the old school Doctor Who fans have complained about being lost due to how good it supposedly is. The one episode from it on the Lost In Time dvd is pretty good to be fair.

Part of me thinks the BBCs hand has been forced in this early and they were planned for a November announcement!
AMMjag
Don't know if I've said it on here before, but I think it would be ace if David Tennant was a bad guy in the anniversary episode.

captainkev
Excellent news. Part of me thinks the BBCs hand has been forced in this early and they were planned for a November announcement! The fact that these episodes have been remastered and are supposedly ready to go online in the next couple of days suggests that the BBC have been sitting on them for a while. I agree, I think the Mirror and then the Radio Times caught a leak from the BBC and so their releasing these episodes earlier than they intended.
South Lanarkshire Jag
Read somewhere, can't remember where, that the three stories are; Power of the Daleks The Enemy of the World Web of Fear
