McPake has talked about maybe picking someone up on loan once the Premier teams are close to finalising their squads and then maybe sending one of ours on loan. Just not sure why folk are talking about us adding 4-6 players? We’ve got a squad of 21 already. There may not be the budget to strengthen the defence, wide areas and the middle of the pitch. He's maybe not some youth player but he's played about 15 games for us and hasn't done anything worth mentioning, just not someone I was planning to rely heavily on this season. Didn't mention Todd as he played in different positions towards the end of the season, although I've seen no pre-season or cup games so can't comment where/how he's played on those. Crossan spence and duthie being really the only youngsters in that lot. Duthie being 19 and crossan only coming on once the league was won. Scott Robinson you could argue wasn’t really part of that with him playing as an amateur and again only once the league was won. January window was 3 in and 3 out. Meaning we spent the majority of the season with 20 senior players. We currently have 14 signed up. With a younger and smaller group of youths to fall back on. Edit- we started the season with 16 senior players, adding mcausland, Rooney, McCabe and antoine-courier at the end of the window, If we were to do similar I’d say we get a winger and center back in ASAP, then add a 2nd winger, keeper cover, DM cover and another center back later. I think so. Got enough games under their belt now. Chubbychops Posted July 18, 2022 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Todd an Allan must show that they are good enough to play in our first team this season and help take us where we want to be, if they can't hit those heights then they need replaced just like any other player. I've got to say, when I look at 20 year old Chis Hamilton compared to Todd and Allan, or even the improvement in Josh Edwards who's 22 and younger than Paul Allan. I think these guys look far better players. I feel Allan and Todd have plenty endeavour but not shown enough quality on the ball to get me excited about them.
