It is my understanding that institutional investor interest for the Rangers IPO has far exceeded club expectations.

Rangers+score+again.jpgRangers score again!

In fact, Rangers are anticipating that the share issue will be over-subscribed, a positive thing in today's gloomy economy.

I also understand that SFL executives are calm about Charles Green's comments regarding the possibility of Rangers playing in the EPL, regarding it as over-exuberant sales talk from the Rangers CEO.

Apparently, Rangers are presently having to take action on two fronts - the circulating of fake documents designed to destabilise the club over the impending share issue and a genuine leak from within Ibrox.

Charles Green is determined that nothing will derail the process of moving the club forward and building a warchest of substantial funds for the future.

My information is that he and his consortium are working like Trojans toward this end.

If Rangers Football Club benefit from all this activity, it can only be a good thing for those of a bluenose persuasion.

Where did he plagiarise that from, then?wink.gif

I love the idea of them battling "on two fronts" - fake documents (probably Internet Bampots having a laugh), and "genuine leaks" - which are giving said Internet Bampots even more of a laugh. laugh.gif (oh, look, there's another one)

They can afford to battle on many fronts, Timmy

They have Canadian soldiers and MAJOR investors on their side

And until recently they probably had lance-corporal Jones too

Be afraid Timmy, be afraid

It's quite pathetic creating an account pretending to be a killie fan. The 'Internet bampots' have been proven to be just that 'bampots'. The pathetic individuals claiming to be legal experts had the FTTT documents in front of them and still couldn't call the decision right.

Shareholders of old Rangers contemplating buying shares in the new Rangers are probably the kind of people who would watch a bloke from a glazing company chuck a brick through their window... then buy the new glass from him

It is over-subscribed by major investors so they better be quick

Well, if my major investors are anything to go by, they're losing patience. Rob D Fanns is tapping his feet as we speak, and Hans N Zitill is talking about pulling out and investing in an Ostrich farm - apparently he got the idea from watching rangers fans' behaviour on a forum....

Hard to know who it's better to see Chas stiffing - gullible fans of old Rangers... or institutional investors - some of whom may be investing innocent money.

I'm fairly sure that before parting with Penny One, any non-Orc would say, "so you've got this huge stadium filled with paying fans every fortnight. You've slahed the wage bill. You can't sign any players for a while. And you need this money right now for what exactly?"

Arsenal, Villa and Southampton must be so jealous......

I was considering having a punt the New Rangers share issue but having read that they have started a new company to run a football club at Ibrox Sportsdirectdotcom hyperbowl I am suspicious that it could be possible my investment will be in a company earmarked for winding down whilst the club is magically transformed into Govan Inter FC

Does anyone have a copy of the presentation that was on here a few weeks ago?

its not the presentation as such i'm interested in, it's the table that was included, from Deloitts which listed last season's SPL player wage totals per team...

cheers

From the Financial Times:

Free-ranging pay could foul Rangers’ IPO

By Kate Burgess

However triumphant on the field, soccer has rarely been a sporting investment. YetGlasgow Rangers Football Club is floating on Aim this week. The shares are being served up at 70p each to loyal fans and professional investors.

This is the club that went into administration in February, having racked up debt and a tax bill of epic proportions, and was relegated to Scotland’s third division. It was just another case of a football company with poor financial controls paying players 10 times more in a week than most people earn in a year. Research by insolvency specialists Begbies Traynor suggests about six of the 32 Scottish clubs are in financial distress.

Fans of Rangers’ IPO trot out that old million pound chestnut: it is different. The fat has been cut out and what remains is pure protein. Rangers’ die-hard supporters regularly turn up to fill the Ibrox stadium close to its 51,000 capacity. There is no debt, the expensive players have gone, leaving a team still well able to beat its rivals. Imagine, say followers, what Rangers could earn in sales of tickets and football shirts when it takes its rightful place in Scotland’s top league in a year or so.

At this point, the group’s backers become all misty-eyed and talk about cup wins, playing in Europe’s lucrative Champions League, selling TV rights for millions and juicy sponsorship deals.

Charles Green, Rangers’ far from dewy-eyed chief executive and a veteran of Sheffield United, reckons he can raise Rangers up without borrowing or overpaying for new talent. He has promised to cap the payroll at a third of revenues. That will be easy for the next year while Rangers is banned by the Scottish Football Association from transferring players.

However, it will be hard to hold the wage bill back once Rangers starts playing top-tier football where pay averages two-thirds of revenues. Soccer’s governing bodies may be pushing for greater financial discipline and player fees may come down, but it will take time.

Mr Green can only be sure of keeping his promise if he makes more of Rangers’ brand and revenues soar. Fans should brace themselves for a rise in ticket prices. The new merchandising deal signed with Sports Direct – whose owner, Mike Ashley, owns 8 per cent of Rangers – could really spice up revenues.

Brokers expect total sales to rise 45 per cent in two years to £46m, lifting the club out of loss into £12m in pre-tax profits by 2015, as long as costs are stable.

But all it needs is a couple of players paid £100,000 a week to derail those estimates. And history is not on Mr Green’s side. It is notoriously hard to scramble into revenue-generating leagues without destroying profitability by overpaying players.

Rangers’ IPO has the characteristics of a turkey with a short sell-by date. It may look delicious on Christmas day but will not smell so good in a few months.
