Jan Vojáček
The proper term is "granda" or even "grandad". Nothing else is acceptable. "Papa" makes you sound like a sex slave. *Insert blatantly obvious Papa/Catholic Church sex scandal/The fact you went to a St school joke here* My other one is my Granda, Grandad sounds a bit English for my liking. Edit: I'm with you on Nana, sounds like a baby asking for food. Not to be used by anyone over the age of 18 months. I went to a Catholic school, and was sexually abused like everyone else, but never had to call anyone papa.

O'Kelly Isley III
Anyway, Tom Walsh and/or Ryan Hardie would be decent acquisitions in my opinion. Whilst we (almost desperately) need to get players in, we must avoid falling into the Gordon/Kevin Smith, Owen Ronald, Darren Petrie, Nicky Phinn, etc., type-trap
BallochSonsFan
So Gordon Smith has options at other clubs and we're waiting on paperwork to confirm Ross is away. Add in the departures of Brown and Gibson and that's 4 trimmed from the squad. Need quality over quantity. If it means giving a couple of kids the chance on the bench then fine. Right now we need first team players, not squad depth. Edited January 6, 2016 by BallochSonsFan

Whilst we (almost desperately) need to get players in, we must avoid falling into the Gordon/Kevin Smith, Owen Ronald, Darren Petrie, Nicky Phinn, etc., type-trap That's what has concerned me, losing players in January always leaves you in a really dodgy situation where you either strike it lucky with a Chris Kane, Mikey Miller, Stuart Findlay, or, more often than not, end up lumbered with a player who nobody else wanted and is out of his depth. On the Stenny thread Walsh seems to be the type of player we could do with - a genuine attacking centre mid. Only a few wingers, strikers and maybe a 'keeper to go if we get him signed up...
Bring Back Paddy Flannery
Anyway, Tom Walsh and/or Ryan Hardie would be decent acquisitions in my opinion. Whilst we (almost desperately) need to get players in, we must avoid falling into the Gordon/Kevin Smith, Owen Ronald, Darren Petrie, Nicky Phinn, etc., type-trap Aye, fully agree. We have 2 loans left, if both of those were used on Hardie and Walsh I'd be happy and both seem to play in positions we're short in. I think Stevie panick signed a few guys in the summer in order to boost numbers (Smith and Miller spring to mind) but this transfer window should allow him to focus on signing quality, hopefully Stevie has learned his lesson. We must have freed up a decent wedge with the Gibson, Brown and Ross departures, lets just hope it's utlised wisely. I'm also hoping we hear something regarding loan and contract extensions soonish. How long do we have to tie those up before those guys are unavailable for selection? This weekend?

How long do we have to tie those up before those guys are unavailable for selection? This weekend? Can you loan two players from a club in the same division? (this is Skyline Drifter's time to shine again) If what I heard way back is true then the Gibson wage we freed up might not actually be as much as people have been speculating it was. I guess combined with Brown and Ross then it might be a decent amount. If Barr's injured and out of contract, Saunders is out of contract and Lindsay's loan is up we could see a very patchwork team at the weekend. Take Mikey Miller pls. Pace in a centre-back? No sorry, we don't look for that anymore.
mcintyre_gmfc
Mikey Miller? Pace? No chance. He's been playing holding mid for us hasn't played centre half once apart from Airdrie away for 20 mins or so last season IIRC.

Nowhereman
The info I received could of course be a load of rubbish but the Stranraer lad seemed 'ITK' and was more than happy for me to share. He advised that Gibson turned down over 400 a week at Stranraer to join us... I have no idea about the loan thing, totally slipped my mind that it would be 2 from a team in the same league as us. Skyline Drifter's expertise required. You are only allowed one player from a team in the same division

Skyline Drifter's expertise required. The thing I heard was that he rejected a few better paying offers to play under Stee and Faz again. I guess unless Willie himself starts posting on here it's unlikely we'll ever find out. As long as we bring in a replacement who can score goals and get assists for whatever amount of money he was on I couldn't care less! I'm pretty sure in Football Manager it blocked me from signing a couple of players on loan from Rangers, but this is SD's specialist area and he'll know the ins and outs of it (transfer pun there, clever, eh?) Hawl, Nowhereman, don't you dare steal Skyline Drifter's thunder here! Edited January 6, 2016 by Sonsteam of 08
