Francesc Fabregas
Alright lads, I recorded a podcast with erstwhile Sons midfielder Scott Agnew. In the second part, he talks about his three years in the Championship with the club and talks about Ian Murray, Jack Ross, the wild turnaround in 2012/13, almost finishing in the play-offs the next year, and his move to St Mirren. Thommo90
Just listened to that interview with Aitken and picked up on a few things. First of all he says most people were surprised he got punted. In reality I think most people were surprised the board actually done it. You would struggle to find more than a handful who honestly felt he should still be there. I'd say 95% of fans wanted a change. I felt during the interview he kept mentioning the difficulties in keeping a part time team in the Championship, training twice a week etc and saying how tough he had it competing against teams with bigger budgets. What he kind of ignored was how crap this season has been so far and it is actually us who might have a better budger (thanks to the stadium sponsors) than other teams. He mentions players need longer than 9 games to prove themselves - Aitken was notorious for not playing a settled team, is that helping players prove themselves? (See Gallagher, Calum) Moans about struggling with injuries and having to play players out of position - most weeks he CHOSE to do this anyway so not sure what the difference is. Probably more things I can pick holes at but that is all I can remember of the top of my head.
George Parr
He's clearly touting for a new gig. So no culpability will be admitted.

Literally the first thing he mentions is the injuries, in response to a question about Dumbarton's Championship expectations over the last few years. Edited to add: he seems to be of the belief he was sacked because other clubs were sacking managers, namely Partick Thistle. Quote I was really surprised to get the phone call saying I was out Quote Too many clubs are now run by supporters trusts. Don't get me wrong, trusts are a great thing, but there's guys there on the board, who also hear what their mates in the stands are saying, and they probably pull the trigger too early.
FifeSons
Aitken being 'really surprised' to get the call just shows how utterly deluded and beyond help he was. As for that supporters trust comment...
Jan Vojáček
I get that Stevie is just saving face, but that comment about the Trust is poor. We were dreadful to watch and were sitting ninth in a league we were favourites for. There's no hidden agendas or snap decisions there.

albundy
I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I'm guessing humility isn't his strong suit, the spin on the statements have trumpesq levels of delusion and the facts simply don't back him up.

The Moonster
This'll be the same supporters trust who knocked (and still knock) their pan in trying to raise funds for Aitken to overhaul half the squads he built and pay wages cause folk weren't turning up to watch his football. It's a bit disappointing that he feels that way, if he's honest with himself he could have been bulleted after Bonnyrigg. I don't really want to get hung up on what Aitken says now though, we've a fresh start with Duffy and everyone is positive for the first time this season.

BallochSonsFan
Aitken never went willingly. It wasnt a mutual decision and I suspect his disappointment is clear from the interview. He'll look at the result Duffy was able to get from the same group of players and he'll be hurting. Parts of his interview are clearly very disappointing but he's entitled to his views. As a club we're moving on. I hope that Aitken does too and wish him nothing but success in the future (so long as it isnt against us). I would also add that the Sonstrust have done, and continue to do, a fantastic job for the club both on match day and beyond.

Some of the players who put in that performance last Saturday weren't doing so for Aitken. He can have a degree of regret about that. He had to go but certainly since the Brechin away game I think some of the players had been short changing the club. FifeSons
Also, the ‘9 games is way too soon to make a judgement’ argument is absolute bollocks. It was a general trend going back about 18 months. Very selective memory from Aitken.

microdave
Regarding Aitken's trust comment, someone should direct him to his predecessor's speech at the 12/13 player of the year do about the club belonging to the supporters and how players/management are just passing through. It might still be Boghead Ranter's signatures on here but I'm on the app so can't see. Moonster is correct in saying that he was could've been away after Bonnyrigg. If I'd been in charge that night, he would've found me waiting for him in the tunnel to escort him straight out the front door.
