Will the NFL begin to look at a players background to see if they are more likely to retire early? Chris Borland was affluent and didn't need to play football, whereas for a lot of players their athletic ability has elevated them from a horrific upbringing. I know Lions OG Laken Tomlinson wants to be a brain surgeon but that didn't stop him being drafted in the first round. Pro Bowl punter for free (practically). Yeah, for trading for him. 49ers had spent a 5th round pick on a punter so he would be released anyway. I know it's only a 7th 2 years from now.
