Known Bugs and Issues

The following is the current list of known bugs and issues with the site that I have collated from the comments I have seen post the upgrade.

These are divided into sections, Desktop, Tablet, Mobile and App. Feel free to contribute to the topic with issues I have missed but always refer to this opening post for the details of known issues and/or fixes.

Please consult this list before reporting an issue and report any new problems into us my emailing support@pieandbovril.com

1. Desktop Issues

1.1 Flicker between pages as team theme is applied. The default colour scheme applies for a few seconds before the users team theme displays.

1.2 Quotes can disappear if the user tried to edit a quote they have pulled into their post

1.3 Users are signed in "anonymously" by default on the board

2. Tablet Issues (iPad, Android, Kindle - when not using our app)

2.1 There is no emoticon or post formatting capability when using the desktop theme on an iPad

3. Mobile Issues (when not using our app)

3.1 YouTube size is too big for mobile platform (reported on Android)

3.2 Users cannot easily skip to specific page numbers from inside a topic on the mobile skin

3.3 If user clicks the back button the black "loading" image stays on screen

3.4 Mobile theme does not show the time of a post, only the date

3.5 YouTube clips are not displayed Fixed 13th Feb @ 2155

4. App issues (iOS and Android)

4.1 Quoted users name is not displayed on the displayed quote when on the App Fixed 13th Feb @ 2330

4.2 YouTube clips are not displayed Fixed 24th Feb

4.3 New lines are being ignored on posts so all text appears in one long line. Line breaks are added if the post is edited Fixed 14th Feb @ 1540

4.4 Some emoticons are not displayed in posts, instead the HTML code markup is shown

4.5 Following the fix we applied to 4.1 users are now only seeing one topic posted under the "Participated" tab in latest content Fixed 14th Feb @ 1540

4.6 When a user quotes another user on the app the quote is not displayed properly in the resulting post, even though it appears ok in the desktop forum. Fixed 24th Feb

4.7 Some users are reporting line break code "<br>" appearing when they are using the App

I'm literally punching my keyboard at how slow this is. Sadly I broke one of the hinges accidentally a few nights ago so my laptop screen just flops about like a flacid penis when I do this, making me even sadder. Sort this Div, before it gets too much to bear

It goes through spells for me. I had a spell of about an hour where it ran slow and got the message saying the website host was at fault, went away for a couple of hours, came back, and its perfect

I really need a bit more information to help me trace these apparent slow downs.

There is no issue whatsoever on the server or the website at the moment. I am sitting looking at traffic and performance and it's all absolutely fine.

So, those that are having issues like above can you tell me;

Exact time that you think the board is running slowly

Whether you are using app or mobile or desktop

What browser you are using if it's desktop

What theme are you using if it's desktop

These things will help me to better understand what the issue might be.

I'm totally baffled as to why some people seem to experience such slowness when I never seem to.

I've made a small change to one of the settings on the web server. Interested to know over the next day or so if this makes things any better, any worse, or just the same.

Well, anyone noticed any difference since I made the change at about 8pm last night ?

Any slow downs, any error pages. Better, worse, no different etc... ?

About 4.50am this morning I got the Cloud page up. It only lasted 10 or so minutes, I assumed it was part of the usual downtime between 4 and 5am.

What is it that is slow fella? Pages slow to load or when you are making posts they are slow to save ?

I'm sitting here with my iPad and the pages are taking maybe 1-2 seconds to load. Seems fine to me.

When people say "it's slow" (and I've accused P&B of being this myself) is it just P&B that appears to be slow or your web surfing as a whole? Maybe there is a slight blip on your network connection or wifi?

I'm sitting here with my iPad and the pages are taking maybe 1-2 seconds to load. Seems fine to me.

Pages were slow to load, 20 seconds upwards. Ten minutes later back to normal. Whenever this happens I try to open another site to see if its my connection (I usually go on to the BBC Sports site) but the pages from there are loading fine.

Wasn't the case last night, but yes there are times the posts just don't want to save.

Quotes on the iPhone app with the rotate lock on.

Big quote that I wanted to reply to, the screen will not show the end of quote and I either guess type or discard, turn off rotate lock and then get annoyed by it.

When using the app, any quotes do not show who they have been quoted from.

This is true for me, too.

Quote issue happening for me also since last update on Android app.

Can't get onto GN because "too many redirects occurred"

That was a wee temporary error this morning which was entirely down to me.

All sorted now I assume ?
