~~~ Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) Deila calling for 'B' teams in the Scottish leagues Was he aye? What teams was he mentioning? Edited November 20, 2015 by Enrico Annoni 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Vbhoy Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Deila calling for 'B' teams in the Scottish leagues Would be good for development of Scottish players. There's easily room in the lower leagues for both the current teams and the reserve teams of the bigger teams. -1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Vbhoy Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 The way this works in Norway for instance is that clubs can field a B team two divisions below wherever the A team is. So in Scottland Aberdeen, Celtic etc could have B teams as high up as League one, Championship sides could have a team in league two. If you expand league one and two to 18-20 teams most premiership teams would be able to field two teams. Don't really see what the harm is in it. Teams would just play each other twice a year like they do in other countries 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RandomGuy. Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) So what happens when one of the B teams wins league1/2? The team below them get promoted Im sure, at least Im sure thats how it works in La Liga. FWIW Its a ridiculous idea, only one (maybe two) teams could actually run three teams (senior, youth, colt), so you're effectively changing the entire league structure to add one club which would mainly be a benefit to them and nobody else. This would replace the development league we have now so AFAIK all Premiership and most Championship sides could do it 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Vbhoy Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Unless it's another B team? The problem I see is that most countries that do these have a pyramid structure with several regional leagues. That means that the B sides get dispersed in different leagues. In Scotland you could easily have half the teams being B sides. I still think it should be studied. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MRF-LCC-RFC Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Why don't you phone Stewart Regan so you can sort it out for your club mate Deila could do with a B team to take the attention off him 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MRF-LCC-RFC Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Personally, B teams are useless. For teams like Barca and Real Madrid where the gulf between first team and youth is a lot bigger, e.g. youth can't just overtake Messi etc - a B team is a good idea. For RFC & CFC it's not a good idea. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RandomGuy. Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 This would replace the development league we have now so AFAIK all Premiership and most Championship sides could do it Well done on completely missing the point. We struggle to have a Development league side without dropping a group of the seniors into it every week, as do most clubs, we need those seniors to be on our bench though. The game couldnt happen on the same day, so you're then forcing one of the league games off of a Saturday every single week, which would surely drop attendances further for those games due to the "Super Sunday" effect these days. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ah, I genuinely didnt know this. Well, let's say the top six clubs could do this. Expand the lower leagues by 2 teams each and you've accommodated them. I see the problem, but I think it's worth at least studying it seriously 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
