Dr Koop
Another thing today has made up my mind on is social media and the internet in general. I think it's high time we all just took a step back and accepted that allowing normal people to broadcast their mental opinions to the world on every single issue has just been a terrible mistake in general, and it's time to just shut the whole thing down. Obviously this would not be without drawbacks, not least P&B, but greater good imo. Letting folk broadcast their opinions is not a mistake - perhaps letting them go unchallenge is. xbl
You're either arguing that terrorism is a phrase of convenience and doesn't actually exist, or that there's a specific definition of terrorism that this event doesn't meet: number of people involved, numbers killed and use of explosives, seems to be your inference. Which is it? Bit of both tbh. Its been discussed on here already that it is a meaningless phrase that can mean anything and nothing. But also, terrorism should be something bigger than one man with a knife.
Ric
I watched the 'video' ... utterly bizarre. Every conspiracy theorist in the country will be all over it. Was it taken by a passer-by? Does anyone know? Bloke with bloody hands and bloodied cleaver tells passer-by with cameraphone his motives for murdering a man in a Help For Heroes shirt then wanders back across the road to join his mate? Passer-by downloads said video onto internet, coincidentally f*cking up the video's provenance in any court case. The lad who videoed him was interviewed on the news, although his face was hidden. You can see the video, and I do apologise for posting a Daily Mail link, here... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2329089/Woolwich-attack-Two-men-hack-soldier-wearing-Help-Heroes-T-shirt-death-machetes-suspected-terror-attack.html .. it's the second one on the page. Ad Lib
My Facebook full of indiignant people talking about blocking racist friends and has absolutely zero racist or xenophobic comments. I think I feel vindicated in my discerning policy viz. friend requests.
xbl
The only outrage on my facebook was that I went too far. No racism at all. I too feel vindicated.
Ludo*1
I just seen a status that said, 'soo you all think its right that a paki can some here have a kid then stay and get paid for it ? then have about 4 shops and smell ?' Wow. Utterly speechless, I don't even see what that has to do with a beheading quite frankly.

Gibby82
Bit of both tbh. Its been discussed on here already that it is a meaningless phrase that can mean anything and nothing. But also, terrorism should be something bigger than one man with a knife. You're right in the first part, it's entirely subjective thus impossible to define. But any attempted definition must surely concern more than just personel and weaponry. Seems reductive to me. In any case, it was two men (as in the Boston bombings) with knives, a gun, and, most chilling of all, a Vauxhall Tigra.

Well it's obviously disappointing that someone might think that for real, but the rhetoric is like a small child's playground insult..
Gibby82
I'm not on Facebook anymore, so had a quick look at my missus' timeline. First thing I noticed was some belter saying the perpetrators should be stoned to death. An unlikely supporter of Sharia Law.
xbl
and, most chilling of all, a Vauxhall Tigra. Given that they were apparently commited Muslims, Im guessing this wasn't a convertible?

Dindeleux
Someone on my Facebook just shared a photo of the scene with writing on it: "British soldier is beheaded by BRITISH BORN MUSLIMS. They were then shot by police and escorted to separate hospitals to receive FREE NHS TREATMENT! Wake up Britain. Send them all back. British born or not they are STILL A TERRORIST THREAT." Classy as always, one bonus of events like these are that they always help me clear out the dregs of society I have as friends. Send them where? Back to Britain? This rant confuses me. EdgarusQPFC
Shocking scenes today, both in the horrible murder that was committed, and the racism that has happened since. Regarding the person who was filming one of the killers, what the f**k were you thinking? "Oh this rather large person covered in blood and brandishing a cleaver has just killed someone. I shall immediately get in his face and record him" Now I know it's being said the 2 wished to be filmed, but who in their right mind indulges them? Idiot The fucking EDL, Yeh go to the area to protest and attack innocents, that will help the situation you fucking idiots. Hope the two who did this are locked up and never see the light of day again.
Lisa Cuddy
So you're throwing bait out to people on FB for them to be racist? That's very clever of you. No, not intentionally. However if they were going to, they had the perfect opportunity to do it.
Colkitto
Worrying that the Leader of Inverclyde Council McCabe @kilmacolm1 thinks it's okay to bait Nats over the London murder. But he got us "You lot aren't much of a challenge. You always take the bait: hook, line and sinker." Yes, you got us good and proper Councillor, great wind up...NOT! Scary Bear
My facebook is racism free too. Score for having good friends! One man machete'd to death isn't terrorism. It just isn't. Its a nutter with a machete, and it doesn't fucking matter whether they are muslim, christian, or anything else. But no, the army are upping security and the government's top secret terrorism group are meeting, because of a nutter with a fucking machete. It just isn't terrorism. Oh, and I don't particularly care either. I bet this guy isn't even the only guy murdered in London today. What odds did you get? Did it come in? Do they have to use a bomb to be real terrorists? Maybe these guys just weren't very high tech. Either way, hacking someone's head of with a big knife seems to get a fair amount of media coverage. Terrorists must be taking note of this.
