SJC's Boat Thread

Recommended Posts

Yeah, but what a way to go. Just like the Bismarck's last hurrah on the open seas, if you have a hugely memorable party then it would all be worthwhile. That, plus your £2 million insurance payout. #partyonthebarge

P&B party at your place first.

Were you on manoeuvres yesterday sjc? The bridge was up as I was passing the canal at lunchtime yesterday.

I wasn't mate......noticed there was a hire boat in the basin last night so the bridge was probably up for that. I'm having the engine on mine serviced next week so won't be sailing til after then.

Renovations agonisingly close to completion though! :)

I suggest a coffee and cakes (Patisserie Valerie, natch....) at Chez sjc and then a small sherry at, say, Bennett's to celebrate the relaunch of L'Atalante.

:)

Sorry, for those who don't know, Bennett's is a boozer in Tollcross. I wasn't for a moment suggesting that we congregate at Vicky the Viking's gaff.

You don't need an engine for sailing.

Do you mean chugging?

Whilst it's a cheaper initial outlay than a flat the mooring fees are circa £4000pa, boats can vary in price.......mine was circa £40k with around £20k spent on renovating it.

You have to have to have it surveyed/maintained every 4 years......the dry dock costs £750/week on its own......it's not as cheap as you'd expect.
