Boostin' Kev
I got the impression that I'd travelled too far too soon and have worked my way back a bit. I didn't realise it was best to collect every piece of junk you come across so managed to make my 10mm a bit heavier at the weapons workstation at Red Rocket, roasted some meat and made a chest piece of leather armour a lot stronger. I found the cave with the fusion core and took a Rad X before going into the part that had the fusion core but I was still collecting Rads in there? What is it Rad X does if it doesn't stop you from picking up Rads? Have now gone back to Sanctuary to collect every bit of crap I can see and have taken a couple of side missions, will build myself up a bit more before going back to Corvega!

Rad X increases your Radiation resistance, meaning you take less rads, Radaway removes rads
Boostin' Kev
This could be wishful thinking but if I transfer items into a workstation in one area e.g. weapons workbench at Red Rocket can I access these same items to be used in a different area e.g. furniture workshop at Sanctuary?

Only if you assign a settler to a supply line between the two. You need the Local Leader perk to do it. Supply lines all connect together, so you dont need to link every settlement together eg, if you have a supply line between Settlement A and Settlement B, then create one between Settlement B and Settlement C, the items from all 3 will be available in all 3, you dont need to link A and C too Edited September 1, 2016 by Mr X
Boostin' Kev
I think I'm a long way off that just now. I'm trying to build beds in Sanctuary and short on cloth and wondering if I left some at the weapons workbench in Red Rocket. How about accessing all the junk between the workbenches in the one area? e.g. puting all junk into the furniture workstation at Sanctuary and being able to use some of that in the weapons or armour workstation at the same building there? I'm wondering how much consideration I have to put into deciding what to transfer what junk to each station.

Chuck everything into the main workbench and it will be available in the other specialist ones too, in the same settlement of course. I think I spent a bit of time at the start scrapping as much as possible at Red Rocket and manually carrying it back to Sanctuary
Stellaboz
Remember you can recycle all the shite lying around like cars etc. I'm at the point where i have around 20 settlements trying to connect them all, I'm sure edgar and others have more. Hopefully not a big spoiler but I've got Hangmans Alley which is fairly central, but very small and it's bursting with people! Keeping it as my own ghetto Because I'm horrible that way, whilst Sanctuary and another place get built like crazy.
wellboy1991
I've just put the game back on 20 minutes ago, I'm playing whatever difficulty the default setting is. It's the Drifter Outfit that I'm wearing with a gas mask, welding goggles and wedding ring and it was Corvega Assembly Plant that was killing me. Going to find Abernethy Farm there's apparently a decent side mission there. Corvega is a lot easier when you enter via the storm drain at the front of the building. Never try a full on assault straight away.
Boostin' Kev
Trying to connect a wire from a generator to a water pump at Sanctuary. When I choose the option at the generator to do it and place it on the pump so that the outline goes white instead of red it still won't attach for some reason.

That usually means they are either too far apart or theres something in the way. When Im powering things, I usually build them right next to a power pylon or generator and then, connect it, then move it away. Its easier that way to work out when its too far away What kind of water pump is it? The basic ones dont need power - theyre the ones you place in the dirt. Its only the larger ones that are placed in water that need power

Cables have a max range and won't clip other objects try moving them closer and make sure there's clear line of sight.

I put the generator close to it and when I first chose the option to connect the wire its red, now it's white so I thought that'd be an ok distance. I'll have to try changing the positions of both until it works.
Boostin' Kev
This game's very different from the other Bethesda ones I've played much more survival/strategical. I haven't killed anything in the last 2 hours. Been enjoying it though.

When it connects it usually jumps to the connection point of the object
Boostin' Kev
Got it sorted now cheers, I seem to have the hang of it. If I can start finding more food to grow in Sanctuary it should start picking up there. Got every other part of that settlement green.
Ulises de la Cruz
Easy place to get food is the settlement Abernathy Farm just south of Sanctuary. Just go in and take all their Tatos.
Boostin' Kev
About to head there now, thanks. I've planted a few Tato plants already, not quite sure about assigning settlers to them yet but think I have it sorted. Could do with planting some of the other foods.
GiGi
The settlement building/management was by far the worst and most boring part of the game for me. Just give me things to solve and/or shoot at with ridiculous weaponry.
