Eurovision

Sooky

It's supposed to be a final, tough shit if you f**k up on the day. Juries don't need a conference, just means Russia voting for Moldova. Australia apparently fucked up their rehearsal, it's what they're for, but stormed it in the final imo. Not that she would have won, but it just seems unnecessary.

But yet Australia got a better result from the jury for their rehearsal performance than they did from the public for their final performance

Also, from the first semi final, I’m pleased to see the very impartial juries of Azerbaijan and Armenia haven’t changed a bit...

Britain could still win if it produced a really good song. The politics doesn't help, and it might have to be a fair bit better than the second best to make up for that disadvantage, but still no reason why Britain couldn't win. Israel, Germany and Portugal have all won recently and none have a huge number of friendly nations dishing out free votes.

Almost 24 hours on and I'm stunned that Austria got as many votes as it did. Baffling. Glad Israel won though wouldn't have been fussed if Cyprus had got the victory.

Felt really sorry for SuRie and the song was decent enough to deserve more than the 48pts it got. Pleased that Ireland got a decent number of votes from both the jury and the televote.

Couldn’t believe Australia came last in the public voting.

Also, the travesty of Austria doing so well is that their song was offered to the BBC originally who rejected to take it to the You Decide competition.

Ireland was woeful. The main voting scandal as far as I'm concerned is how badly Australia did. It was easily in the top five songs.
Think the Irish song had a bit more significance to The Naitch, Sooky and myself than it did to most on P&B

3 hours ago, come on shire said:

At least the UK avoided the wooden spoon. Decent song but politics doesn't help.

I remember waking up when the Brexit result was announced. The first thing I thought was "we're fecked for Eurovision".

Politics has nothing to do with it, if it did the same countries would win it every year. The UK entries are simply not memorable enough and don't have any sort of 'hook'.

Correct. Our winning songs are:

Puppet on a String
Boom Bang a Bang
Save All Your Kisses for Me
Making Your Mind Up
Love Shine a Light

Pretty much all memorable even twenty/forty/fifty years later.

I can't remember a single British entry since Katrina and the Waves. I've even forgotten this year's entry already.

Write better, catchy, songs that stand out from the crowd and Britain can win again.
