Well what other change could you have been talking about? Again you're going on about top four and Hampden appearances.

Over Derek's time it went from top 2 and finals to top four and semi regular Hampden appearances. All signs pointed to further regression.

Callum Davidson can get away with playing eye bleeding football because they have the budget of a team that should be playing eye bleeding football. If St Johnstone had the budget of ours without the trophies to show for it then I presume their fans wouldn't accept that style of football either.

I was talking in general about many times we have changed things over the years - whether it was Miller 94/95, the Skovdahl experiment, Calderwood having to go, McInnes having to go.  All had reasons behind them, but each time we then 'regressed' to use the word much more rapidly than the regression that led to the change in the first place.

There was always a chance that happens this time.  I could actually do with the tonic of seeing us $hitfest a couple of 1-0 wins, just to show the personnel in our squad are actually capable of basic defending if they need to do it.

A number of people of Facebook tonight saying they won’t be going back to Pittodrie because Aberdeen are implementing the Scottish Government rules on random vaccination certificate checks. If the club came out and said they are not going to implement these rules, presumably the ground would be closed down, or attendance restricted to 9,999. Not sure what the stance of Rangers and Hearts fans on this is, but it doesn’t surprise me that our fans are looking for any way to have a go at the club.

Maybe they would be better off asking themselves why they didnt get vaccinated and are now not getting in.

I assume none of these people are planning to go abroad on holiday or attend concerts or theatres....

Watching the arse cheeks being tanned in last night's European games, the feeling of frustration is growing this morning that we're letting a golden chance slip by this season because of horrific choices made by our chairman.

Celtic look to be in chaos, and Rangers not anywhere near as strong as last season. A well organised, determined non-OF side could/should split them this season and with a bit of good fortune on the injury front could push to even win the league.

It's a damn pity that it's going to be Hibs this season, and not us.

On top of that, one of Hibs or Hearts (maybe both) will almost certainly take a European group stage place in August, while we're huffing and puffing against Montrose and Cove Rangers in the League Cup.

Annoying.

It’s typical that we peaked in 2017 when Celtic were as strong as they’ve been for god knows how long.

We've probably been here before after 7 or 8 games, watching them being humped in Europe and feeling there's a good chance for someone to get ahead of them.  Indeed it was reality with Sevco under Warburton/Caixinha, but generally reality bites - mainly due to the other clubs never managing the level of consistency over a long spell.

Celtic's attacking play at times, against a very good Leverkusen, was still way ahead of what teams in this league are capable of - and clearly MacGregor and the Japanese lad being back and one or two other multi-million signings starting to find their feet will help there.

Similar to us though, they are brutally open and naive defensively. They will get away with that domestically more than we will.

My bigger frustration will be letting the Edinburgh clubs or anyone else get out of sight and take the European prize on offer for 3rd..............as we will need some unexpectedly good results from a daunting set of fixtures in the next few weeks to stop that happening  (unless we win the Scottish Cup of course!).

Neither of the Edinburgh clubs will be getting out of sight of anyone. Very important we turn it around sharpish though.

Neither of those things will happen.

I know that this is going over old ground, but there was a very telling comment on Sky Sports News this morning while discussing the treatment of Glen Kamara in Prague last night. “It was boos that Kamara was getting, but we all know the real reason that he was getting booed.”, and this narrative has been repeated on most, if not all, of the back pages of today’s newspapers. Where was this type of take on matters when Shay Logan was booed almost every time he touched the ball in the numerous games against Celtic after he was initially racially abused on the pitch at Celtic Park? It’s only abuse if it’s carried out by non-Scottish fans/clubs, seems to be the way of things.
