Sportscene watch 2015/16

Highlighting the McFadden incident. File that alongside the Wright "elbow" in the same game Van Djik had him by the throat (that they didnt highlight), and the Graham dive (which was rightly highlighted) as times the BBC have decided to draw attention to an incident that'll see one of our players retrospectively punished. Is there a reason its only ever us who gets this treatment?

Who were Dundee Utd playing today? It's just that Sportscene never seemed to bother talking about their performance, even highlighting an incident from the Scottish Cup final 7 months ago during the analysis of this match.

Listen mate, stop being so critical. If Sportscene wants to highlight incidents from last season's Scottish Cup final, it has every right to highlight incidents from last season's Scottish Cup final. That is their choice, and that choice must be respected.

The BBC live text of the Scottish games is so disgustingly bad. The English ones, no matter what division, are full of detail and slightly humorous. The Scottish one just says "And Rooney scores from 6 yards from a tight angle"

Great, thanks.

It's all part of the bigger problem of very few games having "live" TV coverage available.

The English live-text is being written by someone in Salford who is watching all the games come in. They're then able to see for themselves what's happening, complete with multi-angle replays. Up here, they only get the live Sky/BT games with that level of coverage. The Alba games do, it seems, get beamed back live but with no replays - they're added in later (Richard Gordon mentioned on NYD that he could see pictures but there's no replays).

The vast majority of the live text is put together based on what the Sportsound reporters are saying.

But there's cameras at these Scottish games, how much would it really cost just to beam it across to a gadj in the BBC Scotland studio? Genuine question. Can't be a lot...

Does that not already happen, beamed to the Sportsound studio?

Surely Richard Gordon could multi task and text comment on all the games.

Then can't they just get the live text writer to sit in the fucking studio with Gordon and co?! :D. Doesn't make sense to me, anyway, but I have no idea what the setup is. All I know is that it's fucking amateurish :(

The cameras only record the footage; they don't send it anywhere. The costs involved would be the use of satellite trucks and hiring the satellite space for a couple of hours per game. As I said previously, it would be down to STV to do this since they have the contract to film all non-live, non-Alba games.

Does that not already happen, beamed to the Sportsound studio?

Nope. Only the games on Sky/BT, and in limited form (no replays) for the Alba highlights.

So McFadden misses the next three games, while Brophy who came on and smashed an elbow into Frazer Wright gets nothing. Theres something deeply wrong with this whole system

A player will only get into bother for elbowing if he's an Irishman with a skinhead who plays in black and white stripes.

When did this happen? I genuinely can't recall.

The moment he came on I'm pretty sure. It was right in front of me in the East stand. Throw in, but before it was even taken the first thing Brophy did was have a go at Wright. It was very bizarre.
