Hilson was great and we did play more on the ground to him so it worked. Very happy with our pattern of play. I know McKenna was player of the season in the Championship last year but he’s just getting better. Sign him up to a million year contract.

Many very good individual performances tonight - Balde (deserved mom), McKenna, Hilson, Banks, Stewart, TOB… pretty much everyone really, but the most pleasing thing was that we actually looked like a cohesive unit. Chalk and cheese from a few weeks ago.

I thought that the 4 Friday night games in a row was going to kill us off for the season but it’s actually galvanised us. 6 games unbeaten is brilliant and we’ve only conceded 2 goals in the process.

Should only need another 2 wins and perhaps a draw to stay up, so keep playing like this and we should be fine.

Gats was regularly pilloried @ Cappielow....and I was amongst that number.

Have to say Derek....you're a better goalkeeper now than you were when you left Cappielow.

Gatts will be our player of the year by a distance unless someone goes really mental between now and season end.

McKenna or O'Brien may have run him close..but you're right..its Gats season...and I think you're staying up.

Good solid performance last night. Fair dos to Campbells January recruitment. Herherington, balde, Dow and banks all slotting into the 11 nicely. Thought hetherington was superb at LB. It’s great  to have a settled starting 11 again.

Please Dick no more erratic transfer windows like last summer. First half of the season was a disaster but the way we are going now no reason we can’t keep picking up points and steer clear of danger.

Yeah could be doing with both losing today. Would give us a good cushion, if both or one of them win then it’s still very tight.
watched last night back and very similar to most games at home last season where we just don’t look like Conceding and carried a constant threat.

Only negative was more poor officiating, the offside for Scott Stewart in the first half is mind blowing how that can be flagged, Golds booking a nonsense and countless fouls missed.

John Young the gift that keeps giving

Hammy isnt a far 2nd imo. Maybe doesn’t have any spectacular games but so reliable and consistent and chips in with his fair share of goals too. Absolutely gutted if his injury is as bad as feared.

Agree with that. Ironically in such a generally poor season for the team as a whole, it’s possibly been Hamilton’s best for us individually. He’s certainly been the most consistent outfield player imo.

Hope Hammy is ok. That sounds a sore one, gives his absolute all for us every time he plays and a club legend. Luckily it looks like Hetherington more than capable there

TOB mentioned last night in his interview that he might have ripped his hamstring muscle off the bone.

Hetherington is better in midfield than at left back. If Hammy is out for the rest of the season and Hetherington is going to stand in for him he will need to adjust to playing out of position quickly. He did OK  last night but the Ayr player wide right had too much space too often. I mean that as a constructive criticism, he played his part in a good night for the team.

He seemed to be Ayrs only real threat last night and he didn’t get much joy out of Hetherington. They moved him over to the left when the wee number 11 came on too and neither got anything out of Hetherington.
