I am really pretty happy with Hemfrey tbh, he’s also our player for 2 years too so would prefer to stick with him but not sure what or why Rangers would want to loan us Hogarth for if he’s not a guaranteed starter. I lived in the city next to Wuxi for a good few years until covid. Went to a few Suzhou Dongwu games. He's only a 20 minute train ride from Shanghai, and its a nice part of China. Maybe basing the thought of Bird more on the guys potential rather than what he actually done for us as a player to be fair. I think Hylton was right up there though he was a joke at times. Hoping Gallagher and potentially some others can become new favourites for us though you’re correct. AFC360PUNK1320 Posted July 3 Share Posted July 3 In the latter years of supporting the Red Lichties after Gav Swankie and Bobby Linn the players who made me sit up and notice their natural ability was Nouble and Nicky Low (what a waste of talent at his age playing for Clydebank). The "best" player i ever saw playing for the Red Lichties was Andy Penman (my hero was Jimmy Bone/Tommy Yule). Since then natural ability players for AFC were players like Joe Coyle (Owen's brother), Lex Richardson, Ian Britton (ex-Chelsea Captain on loan), Charlie Adam, Colin McKinnon and various others. Not sure he went about it in the best way though, left a bit of a black mark on his time here which is a shame because he was a quality player and great guy whenever I met him. Your point stands in general though with regards to him only being here in the first place due to injuries. So right now JMc is looking for a GK, CB and a ST. That will bring us up to 19 players. Now depending on what players are available for loan and what loan wages are required i can see a couple of more coming in. True but he also said that if you want quality over quantity then you need to pay a bit more for those players and if that eats into the budget a bit meaning it is a squad of 19 then so be it. Had an email on the 23rd June saying we’d sold over 500 then so imagine that will have picked up after pay day and now the games are starting although it’ll probably take right up until before the Montrose home game for the majority of people to have got theirs. I don’t mind either way but I think there are a couple of key areas - obviously a striker and a back up keeper will come in but hoping we sort the other areas mentioned out too In other news I see we’ve been made favourites for the league… can’t see us winning it myself to be honest but think I would be disappointed not to get a top 4 finish I think we’ve got a decent enough keeper. ToB and Hammy should be up there with the best as a centre half partnership. Some quality and legs in midfield and last time both Reilly and Gallagher played in the division (Reilly last year and Gallagher 2 years ago) they have over 30 league goals between both them in a season.
