FortyMile
I came across a lad a few years back whose first name was Dustin. OK, he was named after a well known film star. Admittedly there were not a lot of Dustins in my year at school. His surname was McCrank. Porn star. Porn star :-)
SlipperyP
Our Arbroath Racist tying himself in knots again. Anyway, we have a family here at the moment from Canada, the mother is called, good old fashion Rachel (I've seen her passport), but insists that her name should be spelt Rachelle and pronounced Rash ellie. What worse is her 3 childrens names; Harmonie-Hope - full name has to be said, don't even try to shorten it, you'll get telt Brody Chance
Bobby Skidmarks
Brodys going to need a bigger boat.

FortyMile
Aye. That's the Canadias for you. You get lots of Bradens, Brodys etc. Then you get the names that sound as if the parents misheard someone else's name and thought "Hey that's a good one! We'll use that!" Kaden. Kalen, Kalim. It's like a game of Chinese Whispers used to name a baby. SlipperyP's "Rach-elle" We get the same sort of thing going with Elean-orrr too. The first Elean-orr I came across over here was most insistent about it. When she said it I almost replied "Ellen or what?"

Albino Rover
Maybe her name's actually Lenor and she had to think about it before she said it.
pinnig
Jy Was there a shortage of ink at the registrars?
pinnig
Maybe the registrar couldn't bring themselves to write the "ock" bit. Or perhaps it was 'obb' and they were talked out of it

ArabianKnight
Mercy is a common virtue name. See 'Mercedes' earlier - it has the same root. Names of the same ilk include Grace, Honour, Faith and Verity. Aye, they may be old-fashioned but the surprising thing is your own ignorance. My two girls are Faith and Hope, if we have a third girl she will be called Grace. Utterly stumped if we have a boy!
Addie
Did she run rings round the others? Jupiter doesn't have rings. Interestingly the gas giant has several moons though.
