peasy23
Don't expect Michael Portillo to have many fans of his politics on here, but his railway journey series are great viewing IMO. New series started on Monday and he has been in Scotland all week. Started in Ayr and finishes in Edinburgh tonight, well worth getting on iPlayer.
Todd_is_God
He's good. Always looks like a tit carrying a book everywhere though.
flyingscot
Seen a few. The Continental ones are also good, the Polish one and the Russian one discussing Russia before the 1917 Revolution was interesting. Don't know a huge amount of Portillo's politics but he's a decent presenter.
Lex
Yeah great program. Portillo is an excellent broadcaster.
bullywee
He came to Strathaven even though our closest railway is in Hamilton and has been for about 60 years. The worst thing about it was that he portrayed Larkhall as being our station.
Gullane No 4
Enjoyable and informative.
peasy23
The run that has been on since New Year has been excellent, and fair play to Portillo for doing everything he has been asked to, like going on the world's fastest zipline, a passenger in a bobsleigh at Lake Placid, and doing the CN Tower edgewalk. Interesting and informative as usual.
Waspy
Portillo trying out American football on his recent American rail journeys is tv gold.
John Lambies Doos
I enjoyed his Irish rail tour tbh. His suits are chronic though

RawB93
This is a slight guilty pleasure of mine. The Scotland based ones are indeed great to watch for a railway geek like me. I assume he’s a massive Tory but tbh I’m happy to blank that out and let him take me on adventures [emoji7]
pittsburgh phil
He was an absolute Thatcherite but as much as I can't bring myself to like him I do enjoy the show.

Michael Portillo is the business as a presenter and narrator.

The episode where he speaks to the Spanish kids escaping Franco who knew his parents was outstanding. Compelling viewing.
