Apparently their head of retail designed it: "The hoops represent connecting with the community, and the shirt is all about having fun in the community. This shirt is going to be like marmite; you'll either love it or hate it and that’s the fun of it. We encourage fans to let us know what they think by expressing their views via social media." Sounds like he made a shit shirt then made the excuse that it's meant to be shit because "that's the fun of it". It almost came back about ten years ago when every premiership goalie appeared to have some form of luminous green in their shirt, but now that 90s fashion is back we can have saved by the bell and fresh prince styled football shirts.
