cyderspaceman
Im guessing the 6 were planning to vote against blatter It will be interesting to see if the vote goes ahead and whether the six were pro- or anti-Blatter. Anti-Blatter sounds like some science fiction explosive material.

kevthedee
Blatter has been fifa president for 17 years, during that time corruption has been rife and considered normal practice for its members, blatter has made token gestures to fight this corruption he is part of the problem and not the solution,i expect him to be voted in again as president as the fifa members have no morals only a desire for continued $$$$$$$

doulikefish
Looks like its Blatter supporters he is trying to get a postponment of the vote.It seems the charges go back to the 90s so most likely he has them in his pocket
nsr
I'm going to make a wild prediction that nobody of any real significance at FIFA is going to be brought to justice for corruption.
Spain
The Swiss have now launched a criminal case into the awarding of the 2018 & 2022 World Cups too. This looks like a co-ordinated effort to take down the whole lot and it'll be interesting to see what else comes out of this and who else gets taken in. Hopefully they can pin something on Blatter out of all this.

AberdeenBud
Pleasing. Some corrupt b*****ds squirming this morning, which is always good.
welshbairn
Quite surprised the Swiss agreed to this. Perhaps they've just had enough of hosting an organization led by one of their own citizens that's become a byword for corruption.

Some minor African/Asian officials will be put in the frame. Sweep, sweep.

I think the phrase " Swiss bank account " has been bandied about more than "FIFA" but we will see.

Bishop Briggs
This. Some minor African/Asian officials will be put in the frame. Sweep, sweep. Have you bothered to read any of the articles or coverage in the online media? The US investigation relates to tournaments in North, Central and South America. A former FIFA Vice-President (Jack Warner) and a current Vice-President are among those arrested. Eduardo Li who was due to join the FIFA Exec Committee on Friday has also been detained. Jeffrey Webb, Head of Concacaf was arrested too. Chuck Blazer, former FIFA Exec member and Head of Concacaf, is the insider who co-operated with the US authorities. He carried a wire tap in meetings and has already pleaded guilty. Hardly minor officials from Africa or Asia!
