The Other Foot
The old thread is getting a bit hard to follow so I thought I'd start this one to make it a bit easier for seeing this years squads. Try and keep transfer chat out of it as that's what usually makes these things hard to follow. Post your squad and edit it and it should make it easy for everyone to see. Can this be pinned and the old one binned? DUMBARTON Are Fleming and McCallum definitely strikers? I've heard differing accounts of both. Also,is Whitefield still with you? And who is the Clark mentioned on the wikipedia page?

The Moonster
Are Fleming and McCallum definitely strikers? I've heard differing accounts of both. Also,is Whitefield still with you? And who is the Clark mentioned on the wikipedia page? Fleming is debatable. A lot argue he's better in centre midfield but he came to us as a striker and I think if you asked Garry he'd say he was a striker (or forward). He can play both. McCallum has played in the number 10 role really, just in behind the main striker. Whitefield and Clark I think are both still playing for our U20s Development Squad but I'm not 100% on that. Neither have been signed for the first team.

Lewis Wilson in DF, Omar Kader in MF, Scott Hynd and Gilmar Silva in FW? Lewis Wilson and Scott Hynd have been promoted to the first team for this season, Kader has been reported to have signed for Alloa by Forfar, Queens and the BBC but no word by Alloa yet (rumour being he has verbally agreed to sign and will put pen to paper when he is back from his holiday), Gilmar Silva was on loan in the Philippines last year and is coming back some point during pre season. I'm sure he is under contract for the coming season but your guess is as good as anyone's as to whether he stays or not.

Lewis Wilson in DF, Omar Kader in MF, Scott Hynd and Gilmar Silva in FW? Kader has only just signed, Wilson was a youth player but yes expect him and Scott Hynd to be promoted to the first team squad. Skyline Drifter
Figured this probably needs an update: Queen of the South 2015/2016 Goalkeepers James Atkinson (20) Robbie Thomson (22) [Cowdenbeath] Defenders Darren Brownlie (21) [Cowdenbeath] Jack Dickinson (17) Andy Dowie (32) Chris Higgins (30) Scott Hooper (20) Jordan Marshall (18) [Carlisle United] Shaun Rutherford (18) [Livingston] Midfielders Ryan Conroy (28) [Raith Rovers] James Fowler (34) Kyle Jacobs (24) [Livingston] Lewis Kidd (20) Mark Millar (27) Jake Pickard (18) Iain Russell (32) Gavin Skelton (34) [Workington] Callum Tapping (22) [brechin City] Strikers Steven Higgins (19) [Motherwell] Dale Hilson (22) [Forfar Athletic] Derek Lyle (34) Aidan Smith (18) Departures from Last Season Paul Burns Daniel Carmichael (Hibernian) Zander Clark (Loan expired - Returned to St Johnstone) Mark Durnan (Dundee United) Kevin Dzierzawski (Peterhead) Kevin Holt (Dundee) Salim Kouider-Aissa Stephen McKenna Ian McShane (Ross County) Chris Mitchell (Clyde) Michael Paton (Dunfermline Athletic) Gavin Reilly (Heart of Midlothian) Patrick Slattery (East Fife) Dean Smith (Gretna 2008) New signings in italics Ages at 1st August 2015 Updated for confirmed arrivals and departures. Some players are flexible in their positions. Lewis Kidd can play right back and Iain Russell can play up front but both listed as midfielders as they've played most of their games there. Both James Fowler and Gavin Skelton have been registered as players but are fairly unlikely to feature at least at first team level. All of last year's squad to depart have linked up with new clubs except for Salim Kouider-Aissa who is on trial at Stirling Albion and Stephen McKenna who has quit full time football for the time being and joined the MoD. Edited for the out of the blue departure of Paul Burns.
Guest Flash
Does that mean since this time last season we have lost 16 players and brought in 11 so far (including Skelton)? Plus 3 "promotions" from the U20s?

Plus 3 "promotions" from the U20s?I presume your 16 are the 14 I listed plus Baird and Kerr. If so then to be pedantic Salim didnt sign until the end of August 14 but in general, yes, 16 have now gone.11 in including Skelton being the 10 I have in italics plus Millar I take it? Not sure where you get three promotions from the 20's? I make it two in Pickard and Dickinson. If we ignore the manager then we have only 8 players who started last season in the first team squad (Atkinson, Dowie, Higgins, Hooper, Kidd, Russell, Lyle and Smith). Guest Flash
Yes, the 10 in italics plus Millar. I had 3 from the U20s but wasn't sure if A Smith was already in the squad at the start of last season. So 16 out, 11 in and 2 promotions in a year.
Skyline Drifter
Yes, the 10 in italics plus Millar. I had 3 from the U20s but wasn't sure if A Smith was already in the squad at the start of last season. So 16 out, 11 in and 2 promotions in a year. Aidan Smith was in the squad at the start of the one before! This is his third season as a first team squad member, albeit he didn't get on the pitch until March there. He was regularly on the bench under McIntyre in 13/14. Yep, we're currently a net 3 down (4 if you don't count Skelton), though it should probably be borne in mind that Salim never made a matchday squad last season, Slattery never got on the pitch and Burns and Mitchell's contributions were fairly negligible too. Dean Smith barely featured either and Fowler, who was a bonus player in the first place as he effectively replaced Gerry McCabe, never featured after his first month in charge. We probably had too many players last season over the piece which is why Dzierzawski and Slattery spent the second half of the season on loan despite the injuries to Burns and to an extent McKenna. I expect we'll probably add one or two more before the window closes. Fowler has made no secret of his wish to get another couple in and that was before the Burns development. Guest Flash
This is probably the wrong thread for this, but I couldn't disagree more that we had too many players. We might have had too many who were of no use due to injury or not being good enough, but the absolute number wasn't too high. In the second half of the season it was basically the same 14 every week, give or take the odd cameo due to injury. And Millar quite often couldn't play for 90 minutes. That isn't helpful. Maybe we'd have done better in the play-offs had we not been relying on the same 14 week in, week out. Also, the fact that there was no back up to Lyle and Reilly may well have been a huge factor in contributing to the Scottish Cup defeat. Of course, the wind was also a factor as was the fact that Falkirk may well have won anyway. But having no option up front because Lyle was suspended and Reilly was barely fit was significant. So the saving on not replacing Baird may have cost a cup semi final place. How much would that have been worth? There is always the argument that some journeyman premiership player or whoever would have been no good anyway. So, who scored the goal that took us to a Scottish Cup final? And who scored all 3 goals in the play-offs the season before last? And before you say nobody was available anyway, Blount's justification for not signing a replacement for Baird was that there was no point in signing somebody to sit on the bench.
