Let me give you a hypothetical situation

A SPFL club sets an amount as comp for a player that they have developed and is out of contract, say £300k. No other SPFL team can afford to touch the player at this price.

Now lets say that the player is offerred a contract by a team outwith Europe and is seriously considering the offer.....now remember that in this situation the team is now due nil compo

Team then has to drastically slash their £300k down to a level that other SPFL teams can afford in order to get some cash for him and player starts talking to a couple of SPFL teams.

The clubs don't set the compensation fee, it's calculated based on the cost of brining a player through the youth system. They can accept a reduced fee, like we were allegedly willing to do with Utd. But if Hibs go ahead and sign him without an agreed fee then it'll go to the SFA.

Absolute pish. We'd accept a reduced compensation from Dundee Utd, granted. But then, we're not in direct competition with them.

I don't even know why I'm explaining this to you. There's absolutely no evidence McGinn is in Edinburgh talking to Hibs other than you saying he is.

It's also being reported by the ever reliable Sun newspaper....

Hibs have now come out and said several times that we won't be selling Allan to Rangers. They'll look mighty stupid if it goes ahead now.

Point im making is that St Mirren now need to accept a reduced fee or the player will just sign with the International team and they get nothing for him. Hence why hes now talking to Hibs

I fully expect St mirren to hold out for the full amount due if indeed hibs offer him a contract.

Pretty similar to Scott Alans predicament.

Ones out of contract, due a development fee within the UK

The other is in the last year of his contract.......

Nothing similar there...... apart from they are both midfielders....unless Stubbs has used a corner post as a spear and injure Allan

Like thats never happened before.......

When has a manager came out and said categorically that player X will not be sold to club Y and then the transfer goes ahead?

Houston can't sign McGinn.

He can't sign for Houston Dynamo as they do not have the required international slots. They one the traded to acquire is being used for a player coming back on loan.

Equally there is evidence that whilst MLS teams don't pay training compensation directly, they have 'settled' with teams to avoid being taken to court.

Whilst our chairman historically is useless with deals like his he holds the cards. Better taking the chance and just taking it to a tribunal.
