The Shipyard re-entered administration not long after I left and finished bottom of the Championship last season sacking Steve Evans who was appointed after my departure. They are now managed by Darren Fletcher and currently sit 9th in League 1

The first match we played of the new year ended in a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock before we lost 1-0 to Aberdeen who had offered me an interview earlier in the month for the manager's position but Tommy Wright's new team stole the 3 points. The final match of the month was a 3-2 victory over St. Johnstone.

I took a bit of a risk allowing Waylon Benneth to sign for America (MEX) but with the fee and add ons I feel it is a good price for a player who is fairly inconsistent and I brought Ciaran Moore from feeder club Dunfermline and Gabriel Ubernia from Atletico C so I feel we're quite well covered. I also signed Jean-Pierre Ceulemans on a free to cover the centre half position while allowing various fringe players to leave.

February was a busy month with matches coming thick and fast. The first one was the League Cup semi-final at Hampden against Partick Thistle and Hibs being Hibs lost 1-0. We then drew 3-3 at Tannadice before beating Falkirk 2-0 in the Scottish Cup. Due to the number of matches I rotated the squad a bit for the Rangers game and the fringe players won 2-0 with Conner Naysmith scoring his first goal in 25 games which is appalling for a striker. Partick Thistle were then beaten 2-0 as we got our revenge for going out of the cup. The month ended with two 1-0 victories over Ross County and Dundee.

March began with a 2-1 defeat at Tynecastle, we then went up to Inverness and won 4-0 in the Scottish Cup to set up a semi-final match with Forfar at Hampden. A 3-1 loss away to managerless Celtic was next before they offered me an interview for the position. I decided to attend and got offered the position, I asked for a delay until the end of the season which they accepted. The final match of the month was a home match with struggling Hamilton and despite pummeling Accies for pretty much the whole match it took a last minute strike from Ceulemans to give us a 1-0 win.

I probably won't accept the Celtic position unless we Hibs things up pretty badly.

The first match of April was a 2-1 loss at Pittodrie and then we beat Kilmarnock 2-0 before playing Forfar in the semi of the Scottish Cup and if we were ever going to Hibs up a match it would be this one.

When Danny Handling headed the ball past Mirko Salvi my heart was in my mouth but the linesman had raised his flag thankfully. Final score:

Celtic didn't seem to understand that when I asked for a delay until the end of the season, I meant after all the matches had been played and came back to me. They refused my second request to delay the decision so I refused the job and they gave it to Paul Lambert instead.

We then got thrashed 3-0 by Ross County before drawing 1-1 with Dundee United. More or less met the board's targets and guaranteed Europe although winning the Cup would be nice...

I've not played football manager in a few years but absolutely no surprise to see Dundee United in 2nd place.

Well, actually quite surprising that they aren't 1st.

Congratulations on turning down the Celtic job.

The first match of May was an Edinburgh derby in which we ended up with 9 men due to Hearts being complete thugs but we got the last laugh with the 9 men scoring twice in a 3-1 win. Next was a 1-0 defeat to Paul Lambert's new side. The last league match of the season was a 4-1 victory over Aberdeen at Easter Road.

So the Cup Final then, how did that go?

Quite well

Been a productive season, can't really complain. Rumours of a takeover abound too.

Just spent the afternoon reading this. Fantastic stuff. Have any Scottish clubs done anything in Europe?

Celtic were Europa runners-up to Leverkusen in 2024. That's pretty much it.

The first match of the 2025/26 season was a home match against Rangers and we came through it without too much bother winning 3-1, a good start was made even better by beating St. Johnstone 5-0 and Dundee United 3-2 away. A televised match against Aberdeen ended 1-1 before we beat Ross County 3-1. The last match of August ended in defeat with Hamilton beating us at Easter Road.

A good start apart from the blip against Accies, and keeper Wesley Foderingham got both barrels from me after his horrendous error that cost us the game.

The good thing about our European excursion is that we are straight in at the Group Stage, I really don't expect to do much here in all honesty but here are our opponents

I have retained the majority of last season's squad making only a couple of additions, Bobby Coombes who is labelled the next Gary Lineker returns for another loan from Arsenal after being with us last season. Kevin Brown was on loan to us from Southampton last year and announced at the end of his time here last season that he would love to sign for us on a permanent deal and I thought it was worth the £275K outlay.

An interesting thing also popped up regarding the first round of the League Cup...

The defeat from Accies was followed up with another loss this time 2-0 away to Celtic. Our next match was my European début and a poor refereeing decision robbed us of a 1-0 win so we had to settle for the draw. Next up was our first League Cup tie of the season and we unconvincingly beat Falkirk 1-0 away. The final match of September was another unconvincing win, this time at home to Inverness.

October was a horrendous month domestically, while decent in Europe. The month started with a surprising 2-1 win over Roma before we drew 0-0 with Partick Thistle. We then lost 2-0 to Kilmarnock before beating Viktoria Plzen 4-2. The last league match of the month was a 3-1 loss to Rangers before Hearts pumped us 4-1 in the League Cup. Starting to fall out of love with Hibs given the form and attitude of the players but then there is apparently a takeover around the corner..

The first match of Hearts was an improvement of sorts in that we only lost 1-0 to Hearts, and the board wanted a word with me after it to explain the performance. I blamed the players and they eventually agreed with me, our Europa match away to Viktoria Plzen was next and drawing that 1-1 meant we only needed a point to qualify for the next round. We won our first domestic match in what felt like months beating Dundee United 4-0. I arranged some friendlies against diddy sides to try and improve morale during the international break which didn't seem to work as Ross County comfortably beat us 2-0, we then played Standard Liege at Easter Road hammering them 3-0 and qualifying for the knockout stages before we drew 1-1 with St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup

The first match of December was in Aberdeen and I thought we'd turned the corner as we went 2-0 up but the defence decided that they were done for the day and we drew 2-2, we then had the dead rubber game against Roma at the Olimpico and again we went 2-0 up but this time the collapse was worse and we lost 4-2. Before the Roma match the takeover was completed and I was informed the new board wanted to replace me with Jamie Fullarton, St. Johnstone then put us out of the Scottish Cup winning 3-2 in the replay. We then lost to Hamilton Accies at NDP and I was summoned to another meeting, and because the vibes weren't too positive around the club...
