A spot of Cottaging

Our first league match in September saw us go down 1-0 at home to Stranraer; the next match was much better, a 3-0 win against Clyde. We then beat bottom club Queen of the South 2-1 to finish the month at the top of the league on goal difference.

Queen of the South are our next opponents in the Scottish Cup, I'm really not a fan of when that happens...

I needn't have worried as QoS were disposed of by 4 goals to 1, we then beat Brora 1-0 and a certain Ross McCrorie was at fault as we got a late winner in a 2-1 win in Montrose. We finished our league matches by losing 3-2 at home to Stenhousemuir, before drawing 3-3 away to Ayr in the Scottish Cup.

Top of the league by 2 points but we need to stay there.

We began November by beating Elgin 3-2 and then won the Cup replay 3-2 to set up a home televised tie with holders Hibs (quit laughing at the back, you). We then drew 4-4 with Peterhead, the next two league games were 2-1 wins against Albion Rovers and Stranraer.

Onto the Cup tie, could we pull off a massive shock?

Gap at top now 4 points, hopefully we can keep our league form going...

We then lost 1-0 to Clyde in a Cup hangover before we thumped Montrose 4-0 and then we had two 2-0 wins v QoS and Brora. Our last match was a 2-2 draw away to title favourites Stenhousemuir where our nasty habit of throwing away a 2 goal lead came back to haunt us. We were supposed to have a top of the table clash at Peterhead on Boxing Day but heavy snow put paid to that.

4 points clear with a game in hand... Looking at letting more players leave than I bring in during the transfer window tbh.

January wasn't great, we started with a loss to Elgin City, we did beat Peterhead and Stranraer but then we drew with Albion Rovers, and lost to Clyde and Queen of the South and we threw away our lead at the top of the league and slipped down to 2nd. We also seem completely incapable of keeping eleven players on the park.

We got back to winning ways in February beating Montrose 4-1 and Brora 2-1 before defeating Stenny 1-0 in a top of the table match, let ourselves down against Elgin snatching a late equaliser in a 3-3 draw.

Back at the top by 1 point but we really need to find some consistency.

There were only 3 league matches in March and we didn't win one of them, drew with Peterhead and Stranraer and lost 2-0 to Albion Rovers, however Stenhousemuir's result pattern was exactly the same so we stay on top and:

It looks like the team who will stop Burntisland winning the league will be Burntisland.

Into the business end of the season and April began with 5-1 mauling of Qos and then a comfortable 3-0 win over Clyde. Stenhousemuir's draw with Peterhead meant that if we beat Montrose and Stenny don't win in Coatbridge then the League 2 title will be ours..

Great stuff - have you an the board made p yet?

They offered me an contract after I attended an interview with Port Vale. Told them I would sign it on the condition they look for a parent club. They refused so still on a month to month.

The new season started poorly getting knocked out of the Challenge Cup in a 4-1 extra time defeat in Peterhead. We did beat Dunfermline 2-0 in the League Cup to set this up though...
