Lower Saxony derby on Sunday as H96 hosted bottom of the table Eintracht Braunschweig.

The usual massive police operation in place (1st photo was ca. half an hour before kick-off).  H96 the better side, taking a deserved early lead in the 12th minute courtesy of Fabain Kunze. Marcel Hastelberg, signed in the summer from RB Leipzig, converted a penalty just before half-time.

Braunschweig down to 10 men, after their wee arse of a captain, Jannis Nikolaou, received a 2nd yellow. Thereafter, only going to be one winner.

H96 had a goal VARd just before the final whistle.

The win moves H96 upto 3rd, 5 points behind top of the table St. Pauli who are the next openent in Hamburg on Friday night (unfortunately couldn't get a ticket).

2nd placed Hamburg take on 5th placed Kiel on the Saturday. Fortuna Düsseldorf, now in 4th,  who surprisingly lost at home to Wehen Wiesbaden, travel to 6th placed Greuther Fürth.

Looked like a lot of bother in the guest block at the Millerntor last night, hope your alright if you were there @German Jag

Missed out on a ticket, couple of mates were there.

Wee fuds being wee fuds was what they said, although the police with pepper spray seemed a bit over the top.

Pepper spray absolutely was OTT except one wee guy I saw on TV giving a big come on to the polis and throwing a pint off ones head and they just nonchalantly sprayed him 😂

Not quite the Regionalliga, there's a national third tier now, but yeah, double relegations seem to happen pretty regularly. Hope Hertha can turn it round, I have a soft spot for them.

Form has stabilised a bit, after some mental seesaw results in the first couple of months. Unbeaten in 6, would be nice to have a 7 game run going into the break.

I watched the Bayern-Stuttgart game last night - very convincing performance. Score within 2 mins, then sat back the rest of the game, just let Stuttgart have the ball.

Stuttgart had 63% overall possession, but did nothing with it with only 2 lame shots on target and 2 corners all game. Bayern on the other hand had 8 shorts on target and six corners for their lower possession.

Was actually incredible to watch, just a better side saying to their opposition, "you are shite, we can do what we want with you".

Baumgart leaves Cologne.

Complete farce, the guy absolutely loves the club and the city but the board has given him peanuts to work with.

You could get any top manager coming in and they'd be back towards staring at B2 with the lack of investment made in the team. Money is available to spend ffs.

Restart of BL2 with the return fixtures. H96 away to SV Elversberg.

Elversberg is just outside Saarbrücken, so out close to the French border. Due to the amount of travel, stayed o/n in Mainz on the Friday (plans to see Mainz - Union Berlin, came to nothing due to freezing conditions forcing it to be called off).

Away end was a meccano type thing which you get at the golf with "school assembly" type seats bolted on. Weather conditions were f'n cold, with large amounts of ice and snow everywhere.

Off to the best of starts with youngster Nicolo Tresoldi scoring in the 8th minute. Should have been home and hosed at half time, with 3 top chances in the space of 5 minutes just before half-time. The inevitable happened with Elversberg scoring 2 in quick succesion courtesy of shite defending. Tresoldi however got a 2nd to make it 2-2.

Another 2 dropped points. Failure to win on Friday against Nuremberg more or less ends any hope of promotion / a play-off spot.

A long journey back, eventually getting home at 1 in the morning.
