I get the feeling that this paragraph could have been written at any time over the past seven years, yet all there's been is, successive, squandered mandates.

That's not all there's been, there was that pandemic thingy that killed 6,000 Scots too.

How big a number does it need to be for her popularity to be touched? All my football supporting pals who voted snp are done with her, you had multiple cancellations just on this one corner of the Internet...

It's certainly not unoutched, you just have those extremely loyal to Sturgeon hoping it's not that bad.

People have been critical of Sturgeon for months over ‘restrictions’.  Yet the most recent poll (less than three weeks old) showed that the SNP would win every one of the 59 seats at Westminster.

Meh, we'll see what the next one says.

Yeah you’re right.  They probably won’t get any more than the 59.

🤷‍♂️ Makes f**k all difference anyway doesn't it? No matter how many seats they get in Westminster, no matter how many they get in Holyrood, we're not getting independence under Sturgeon.

While it's understandable that for the past year the Scottish Government has devoted the majority of their efforts to the responding to the pandemic, what can be said about the other six years?

A particular low point for me was the bizarre "Save The UK from Brexit" escapade, which we got instead of indy.  This seemingly amounted to Sturgeon schmoozing in the capital of the regime which imposed Brexit on us, alongside people who believe we should never have any meaningful national rights as Scots.

You can count out the years 2015, 2016, 2017 we were never going to have a referendum so soon after 2014. The first positive case of Covid in Scotland was 1st March 2020 and we've been playing catchup ever since so that's the last year and a half effectively ruled out.  That leaves you 2018 and 2019 but we hadn't been dragged out of the EU by then, that happened on the 1st January 2020.  SO that leaves you the first two months of 2020 when we could conceivably have had a referendum and the Scottish Government "failed their mandate".

It was a UK election, sport.  The mandate for Indy lies in Holyrood.

Shouldn't they be more pissed off at the club that blocked bringing forward the winter break?

1- Majority of them are Dunfermline fans, there is no winter break.

2-Those that are fans of Premier league clubs are aware the clubs have been put in the situation by Sturgeon.

Did leaving the EU come as a surprise? Was there any prior warning to that happening?

The mandate is "being taken out of the EU against our will" not "going to be taken out of the EU against our will". There was always a slim chance a deal could be done as per the proposal to keep Scotland in the customs union and the single market.

Like not chucking us into a lockdown? She's been made to look ridiculous by Boris Johnson.

You have to be kidding. We're not in lockdown, we have to suffer some slightly inconvenient restrictions and Johnson is playing with fire, London alone is suffering tens of thousands of more new cases per day:

"In the most recent week of complete data (10 December 2021 - 16 December 2021) 131,061 new cases were identified in London, a rate of 1456 cases per 100,000 population. This compares with 52,029 cases and a rate of 578 for the previous week"

Depending on who you speak to will depend on the severity of the restrictions, for some this will mean unemployment, for others it will effect there mental health. If its slightly inconvenient for you then fair, that won't be the case for everyone.

London has platued, cases have actually dropped over the past couple of days, as data suggested it would, which is precisely why these restrictions are a farce. If, as it looks that cases have platued, you'll have England sailing on through the next three weeks, meanwhile up here you'll have people with absolutely needless restrictions.

You appear to rely on the Daily Mail for your healthcare advice.

That's not a plateau:

As for mental health, the lockdown effect may be overstated: https://www.samaritans.org/scotland/about-samaritans/research-policy/coronavirus-and-suicide/one-year-on-data-on-covid-19/what-do-we-know-about-coronavirus-and-suicide-risk/

Sturgeon would get pelters if she ignored SAGE advice and it turned into yet another wave of record deaths. Better safe than dead or permanently impaired.
