Redstarstranraer
Paul Elliott would rather be in Glasgow than Manchester on Saturday apparently: Paul Elliott says he would rather be at Celtic Park than Old Trafford as the Glasgow and Manchester derbies compete for worldwide attention on Saturday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37301666 "I think it is wonderful that this weekend the two biggest clubs in Scotland have reconnected and we've got a fantastic game in prospect, not just for Scotland but for Britain and maybe for the whole of Europe as well." It's almost* touchingly naive that there are some Scottish journos old firm fans out there who actually think that there will be folk fighting in bars from Peru to the Punjab over whether or not the Manchester or Old Firm Derby is shown on the big screen. This is all getting as over the top as you'd expect and it's still only Wednesday... Missed the best bit actually: The Old Firm rivals have only met twice in cup competitions since financial problems led to Rangers playing four seasons in the lower divisions. "Scotland suffered commercially, environmentally, socially because of that," Elliott told BBC Scotland's Sportsound WTF? *Evidently not really though, just sadly delusional Edited September 7, 2016 by Redstarstranraer
RandomGuy.
Its fairly clear that most of Europe has no idea theres even an Old Firm game this weekend
HibeeJibee
It's not so much the ex-OF pros, journalists and pundits churning out the nonsense which infuriates. It's the way that anything they say gets passed through totally unchallenged. You'd genuinely think the sporting world was coming to a halt to watch the Glasgow derby. As for the country having suffered economically, environmentally and socially . Aye, that's right... Rangers in SFL3 caused the recession, the floods and the riots. Do they go on the same in Athens, Moscow, Istanbul and so on - or is this a specifically Scottish indulgence?
GordieBoy80
This would be the same Paul Elliott who claimed he was hounded out of Glasgow because of racism?...

Hartson is going to have to up his game here.
Hammer Jag
Environmentally Trees dying, fish all but wiped out, pollution levels through the roof. He's got a point tbf. Thank f**k the Rangers are back.
DA Baracus
You should have heard him on Sportsound earlier tonight. He genuinely said that Rangers fans are 'exceptional people'.
resk
That Elliott quote is ace. The winner so far - it's only Wednesday though.

Probably not. You never know though, maybe some utter no-mark Greek journalist is currently blaming their financial crisis on AEK Athens being relegated
DA Baracus
It's well known that Atlantis fell because Atlantis Rangers went out of business.
D.A.F.C
He's right, every football journalist in Scotland pished their pants at the thought of actually having to do some real coverage when rangers died. The newspapers and tv were full of pish for months about a meltdown. Best thing is even after looking like complete morons the papers and sportscene will be full of OF sychophants over the weekend. Cant wait to hear what Derek Ferguson and Pat Bonner have to say.
Salvo Montalbano
At least Bonner has a chance of knowing the names of some of the players who aren't playing for Celtic this week. More often than not it's "the winger", "the big lad", "the young full back" etc.

Burke should have stayed in England because John Hartson doesn't have a TV package that covers German football. Gordon Strachan also can't be arsed watching the Bundesliga (seriously, feck having to learn all thae funny German names, eh?) and so will presumably just forget about the most expensive Scottish footballer in history. In other news, John Hartson no longer speaks to any of his relatives, because they live further than shouting distance from his house, and he hasn't worked out how to use his phone yet.
7-2
Elliot has always spoken like a thick twat trying to come over as intelligent but failing miserably.
capt_oats
The most remarkable thing about the Hartson piece is that he's employed by BT Sport who have the exclusive rights for the Bundesliga and broadcast live games over the weekend and hour long highlights packages OF EACH GAME back to back on a Monday.
resk
Elliott and Hartson playing absolute blinders here. Disappointed by the performance of the ex-Gers so far. Two days to go though.

That's true. Right back to his playing days, he's always affected this slow, considered style of speech and attempted the use of relatively sophisticated vocabulary. What he says however, establishes that he's an utter thicko. It's absolutely laughable that fools like him get offered a platform to share their idiocies.
The Saintee
Hartson is correct. Burke should be testing himself in the Old Firm goldfish bowl imo.
RandomGuy.
Lets also not forget Paul Elliots the black anti-racist campaigner who got sacked by the FA for racially abusing a black man.
TheScarf
Pretty gutted I wont be able to watch the Manc derby on Saturday in the Spoon across from my hotel in London. Guess i'll have to watch the Old Firm game instead, which will be on the big screens no doubt .
