I'd take a guess if the 2017 council elections were held tomorrow it would be carnage for Labour with their Glasgow flagship gone.

At one point Labour had 22 out of 32 councils.

The voting system was changed and 24 went down to 4.

Considering the time and energy Labour is putting into local council elections, students bussed from Dundee to Blantyre, no wonder their holding on just.

Spot on. Labour are furiously trying to gain traction and momentum. They are hoping small wins like this will be a catalyst, hence they are all over them. Come full elections they simply don't have the resources..

Clutching at straws?

The tweet is from a Tory candidate. The old pals act is hard to break.

People that get saw and seen mixed up deserve to be sent to downtown Raqqa with 'Down With Islam' tattooed on their forehead, yet this guy wants people to vote for him? Hanging's too good IMO.

No, this is the start of the fightback. At best the SNP will get a few list MSPs next year.

All the auld folk voting.... limited young folk vote in council by elections... nought to see here

So why hasn't that helped Labour elsewhere in council by elections? The Lab to SNP swing is in line with recent trends even if it didn't translate into an SNP victory. Think Blantyre may just be one of Labour's most diehard electoral strongholds.
