f**k sake, We got rattled from a team who threatened us very little, we could've been 3 - 0 if we could actually score a goal. Embarrassing.

Wright is slow as f**k, Barr is shite at right back, Craig is Duggan with a mask on.

Let's be honest, alloa were comfortably on top for large spells of the game...

Grown men going Booooooooo is fucking hilarious and totally demoralising for our team. So well done Alloa looking forward to the battle at the bottom.

Honestly wish the Booers could see themselves. The have a shit day at work and as they leave the bosses gather at the gate and Boo them on the way home.

Thought Dumbartons tactics were partly to blame. We played two deep lying midfielders which relies on the counter attack against attacking opposition like hibs and St. Mirren. However as Alloa were also playing a more defensive game our chances of hitting on the break were limited. It was not helped by a lacklustre display by Craig who seemed incapable of holding the ball until the midfield arrived. Also the dropping of Cawley was nonsense as at least he had a but of urgency about him when he came on. Barr at right back does not seem to work and taggart should return post haste. In addition get ting rid of graham and replacing him with Wright is looking more and more a mistake. I think aitken will have to think long and hard about his team and formation before the Morton game .

Wasnt really impressed by Fraser Wright if Im honest. Expected him to have a bit more composure than he did. Docherty doesnt venture forward too much with Gibson in front of him- and his crosses rarely beat the first man.

Didnt think there was much in it- bit desperate in defence at times but big credit to the back 4 and keeper for the clean sheet- earned on desire and effort. As suspected slotting the experienced Holmes into the midfield gave it a lot more balance, and as such McManus really excelled and had by far his best showing in an Alloa shirt. Robbie Crawford put in a ton of hard work on his debut. The second goal obviously comes from a breakthrough with the home team pressing for the equaliser. Dumbarton huffed and puffed after going behind, gave us plenty to think about but didnt really force DC into doing too much work in the goals.

Was nice to see the entire Alloa support applaud Cawley onto the pitch when he was introduced as a second half sub.

A massive 3 points for us at a ground where weve had a fair few bad days over recent years.

Been choking to get on here and dissect that absolute shambles of a performance yesterday.

Don't know where to start to be honest but the two things that stood out for me is how utterly uninterested Steven Craig looks, he doesn't look like he's even trying. .

Was a bit gutted when we missed out on him. I know we offered him a deal at the same time as you and he opted for you boys.

Sounds like we got lucky.

As I was applauding Gary Fleming off the park due to another determined performance, a man with a 70s porn 'stache asked me 'why do you think it's acceptable to clap?' and then proceeded to boo. It reallt isn't helpful to anyone. Taggart and McCallum in for Morton please.

Absolutely stunned when I got home from work and saw this result. Seems like Dumbarton had a nightmare, but did we look substantially better than in the other matches so far? Well done to DL and the squad if so. We were rotten last week.

Thought we were better in the first half against Queens, Raith and probably for some spells against Morton (after first 5-10 mins) than the opening half yesterday. But we stuck in, and that all important opener made a huge difference in terms of confidence. Wasnt what I'd call a vintage performance, but the team was better balanced and the players battled well.

Been choking to get on here and dissect that absolute shambles of a performance yesterday.

Don't know where to start to be honest but the two things that stood out for me is how utterly uninterested Steven Craig looks, he doesn't look like he's even trying. McCallum in, this pretender out. He brings absolutely nothing to the team.

The other thing is that we have a team who can pass it about, all look like triers that generally give their all but don't actually possess that much quality. We don't have anyone who can put their foot on the ball and pick a killer pass. The one guy who looks like he may be able to is Brown who should never have been subbed.

I'm not too happy about Taggart being dropped for Wright, why should he just waltz into the team? Can't say he's impressed me much at all and Taggart provides a good attacking threat down the right. I'd revert back to the back 4 that won 6 points out of 6 against Hibs and St Mirren, why even fanny about with it?

Grant Gallagher - meh. Far too inconsistent for me, seems like he'd benefit from playing in the one position and not 4 different ones per game. I do think he's a good player but sometimes he just disappears out of games.

Gibson I like but his confidence looked shot yesterday. Did he ever try to beat his man? Too many deep crosses rather than hitting the by line.

Cawley - one of our best players so far, dropped for our stand out shiter. Terrible decision.

After the Queens game I thought fair enough, we were beaten by a good side there. Unfortunately we weren't beaten by a good side yesterday, and that's not sour grapes. I don't often find myself grumbling out loud towards our own players/management but yesterday I did. Hugely frustrating to watch and was as painful as watching Scotland flounder around the final third trying and failing miserably to even muster up a shot on target. Our lack of cutting edge and creativity worries me big time.

You are reading my mind mate. Every word spot on.

anyone else having Jim Fallon flashbacks? :o

I've read a lot of strange things on this forum...

But aye, that was rank yesterday. Utterly dire, we've got nobody who ever looks like scoring in the team. McCallum deserves more game time, thought he was very decent and looked moderately threatening.

Wright must be dropped pronto. Was caught out for the first goal, Taggart at RB and Barr in the centre. He didn't deserve to get dropped.

Some of the abuse the team took yesterday was horrendous by the way. And I can see no reason how that in anyway helps anyone or anything. A guy shouted "Gibson, that's you cost us again" after the first went in. That'll be Willie Gibson who has scored 2 and assisted 2 of our 5 league goals this season, aye?! Another tube shouting "This would never have happened with Murray". Aye, we lost 3-0 to the Wasps with him!

Let's switch back to the defence and side that we played against Hibs and Saints (although maybe with Brown in for Craig and a switch to 4-5-1) Starting with Garry on right wing was working not too badly, but moving nobody out there to put Gaz upfront was a monumental mistake.

Stee was fairly scathing in the paper, so hopefully we see Taggart, McCallum and Cawley into the starting Xi next week. Taggart marked Scott Allan and Paul McMullan (two of the best players who we will face in the league) out of the game. Wright's good in the air...but that's it.

Routledge remains quality however. Still shocked Hamilton chucked him for Turner. Nae question who I'd rather have in the team.

Big week coming up, would be nice for the fans to get behind the team. The away support normally do, so hopefully that'll help fire the players up a bit.

Yesterday was a terrible game. Normally you can find the odd positive in a match but that was torture. Scott Brown wasn't bad until he was bafflingly subbed and Routledge was the only choice for man of the match but beyond that the only other positive was seeing young Donald get some game time.

Back to front yesterday, Dumbarton were absolutely mince. Darren Barr was hopeless at right back and offered absolutely nothing going forward. Taggart might not be the best player in the squad, but he's the best option at right back. He'll push forward, has the pace to trouble opponents by running at them and is positionally pretty sound. Yesterday Darren Barr held up the play far too much and was too slow at spotting the obvious ball. Switching off for the opener was poor and I'm not convinced that Barr and Wright give us anything more than Andy Graham would have. Both are slow. Both are reliant on their ability to read the game. We had that with big Andy. Docherty offered just as little on the left as Barr did on the right.

Middle of the park? Stodgy and clueless. Fleming started on the right then switched with Gallagher. Brown looked decent in spells but was let down by the lack of a proper outlet pass. Gibson was anonymous. We had absolutely no width and rarely troubled the Alloa defenders with any purposeful running. They were happy to give us as much possession as we wanted because we did absolutely nothing with it.

Up front? Craig looked utterly lost. The supply to him was woeful and the longer the game went on, the more he drifted from it. It isn't happening for him and he isn't getting better with games but we need to hope that it'll come good because we don't have another out and out striker in the squad. Fleming is at his best running from deeper and arriving in the box to support a striker. If we're playing Craig on his own then we need the 3 attacking midfielders - Fleming, Gibson and whoever Aitken picks as the 3rd between Cawley and Gallagher - to push into the box and support him. It's no use playing the ball to Craig and not getting guys to support him because all he's going to do is lose possession.

The most frustrating part is that Alloa were absolutely woeful yesterday. It was a turgid game from 2 sides playing garbage football but Alloa took advantage with a smart quick free kick when Sons players were busy arguing with the official and punished us. The 2nd was no great shock either. A nice finish but that's about all that can be said as by that point there really wasn't a way back for the Sons.

I believe the players can play better. I believe that we can improve with the squad at our disposal. But it'll mean making changes to the first 11. We're not blessed with a natural playmaker so we need our creativity to come from the flanks. We're not blessed with a great goal scorer so we need the supply to be better and we need to get players forward to support Craig properly. We need to decide on a proper back 4 because we should never be shoehorning a player into right back just to accommodate Fraser Wright at centre half - it's either Wright or Barr for me and absolutely not the 2 of them.

I'd hoped for good results from the Alloa and Morton games because we'll get nothing from Rangers at home. Morton next week has become the biggest game of Aitken's Sons career so far because heading into the end of September having given up 6 brilliant bonus points from the opening 2 games and failing against the teams we need to be beating would be a major blow. This squad is better than we showed yesterday. Much better. It's just easier said than done getting them to actually deliver.
